NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Good Luck is all I can say. Routing and mounting 2 AIO's didn't really jive for me. I ended up going with a custom loop with 2 Radiators and still had trouble routing and fitting everything in the case.

    Case to replace FT-02?

I really wish there was a smaller formfactor similar to the FT02-B. I actually really like the design of it as a whole. Really a pleasure to work with overall. Also a pretty genius way of dealing with GPU Sag and airflow.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The Corsair cables don't really bend well, but if you worked with PATA/IDE cables from way back when, i was able to fold them in a similar way to those fairly well to bunch them in the case. I also ran a bunch of the cables flat between my video card and radiator. It takes up a small section of...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

The M1 is a case that has a very rewarding end result. However, it's greatest strength is also it's greatest weakness...it's extremely customizable. There are a lot of bits and bobs that can be moved around or customized to work for you, but at the same time you need to be diligent on...

    newegg "WL" drives

I would steer clear not because of drive quality but because of NewEgg's shipping quality pertaining to these drives. I've more or less stopped ordering HDD's from them due to an abnormally high failure rate I've had. Out of about 30 drives I've purchased over the last 3 or 4 years. 12 have...

How do you roll at a hotel?

I travel a bunch for events. Dell XPS 13 (2015 version) + Note 5. I keep it light, but the laptop can do everything I need in terms of Adobe Premiere (usable), Photoshop (fine), Lightroom (fine). And even some light gaming (and I mean light).

    Case to replace FT-02?

It really varies based on what you want in the case. If you go with water cooling you're going to dramatically reduce your options. If you're going to use certain coolers or a Full Size ATX PSU (vs SFX) you're going to also lose a few options. Same situation with a full length full cooler...

    Case to replace FT-02?

Honestly it's a fantastic case...the Apex Predator of Cases if you will. I ended up going to the NCASE specifically because I wanted a new form factor and to consolidate on space...also a challenge build. Everything about the FT02 is easy.

    Case to replace FT-02?

If you wanted to see my build: Either way I've been pretty happy with the Corsair Carbide and that line of cases, very easy to work with and good price point. It should let you bring the size down from the FT but not really compromise on anything other than a few storage bays.

    Case to replace FT-02?

My FT02 is sitting on the sidelines, just built a NCASE machine recently. 25% the size, with more power, more cooling, and less loise. That being said...I love my FT02 as well.

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

If you mod your powersupply to use the slim/stub PCI-E power connectors at a right angle you should be able to make it work. But yea 7mm is a really tight fit.

AMD in Trouble? RX 480 Powergate

Why is this such a big deal? If it's out of spec by a non-trivial margin when running stock. Ok, that's a problem they need to deal with. AMD has straight up said that they are looking into it...It's been a day...so let them look into it. Why does overclocking even come into this conversation...

    u2711 upgrade

I actually have the U2711h as well as the Acer XB270HU (gsync). Honestly, the Acer is a great monitor if you do well in the panel lottery. Mine was flawless right out of the box, but I do know a lot of folks have complained about QC issues so look into that. In terms of uses, my U2711 is...

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

Both of you make fair points, but using my very scientific test of putting my hand on my case, that particular side panel takes the most heat. The 240mm radiator is up against it, and it's the primary air exhaust for it. It gets fairly warm. With a window panel there, that air would be...

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

Would 100% Buy a top or side window panel with zero reservations. Though I understand why they didn't make one. a Solid window panel would impact the ventilation of the case quite a bit.

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

I started with my radiator screwed down, but it ended up being problematic. I find it actually a lot easier with the radiator floating. Between the fans, the graphics card and the cable and tube routing, the rad is pretty firmly in place and doesn't really vibrate or wobble or anything...

NCASE M1 picture and build general log

I'd also be wary of those "fancy" build pictures. The cooling capacity on the single Rad will be somewhat weaker unless you're running the fans at a relatively high speed. Additionally, that loop doesn't look like it holds much coolant, so overall heat capacity is relatively low unless you run...

    Lets Talk USB 3*

Just finished up my SFF Build and one downside is the reduced number of USB ports available. I have a basic hub running my HOTAS setup off of a USB2.0 port, but am looking to get some external storage via the USB 3.1 Type C and Type A ports I have on my mobo. Any suggestions on good quality USB...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I suspect as much, it seems like a relatively standard header which just screws in. It works fine but would be nice to have an alternative accessory (tried finding one but didn't get too far).

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

I was wondering if it's possible to do something with the USB and Audio Front panel cabling (possibly a right angle connector coming out from the top or the side flush along the inside edge of the case? I managed to work around it but am placing a fair amount of stress on the cables when...

NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

For the love of all that is holy, what cable did you use to connect the SATA power/cable? I finished my M1 build and that was by and large one of the largest issues I had. I managed to get my SSD and HGST drive installed, but am looking to cram a third one in...wondering if I can find a...

Finished my build as well. Definitely had some challenges notably with connecting up the bottom radiator, Ended up using 6x Barrow Rotary fittings to create a sort of Articulating Arm, to handle the connections.

NCASE M1 version changelog and suggestions thread

Would it be possible to have a shaped side panel created with an "outdent" to create some additional space between the side panel and case. That could be pretty nifty for creating some space on the sides of the case for cable routing without impacting compatibility on the chassis itself.

NCASE M1 picture and build general log

That is reassuring. I'm looking at the Apogee Drive II + EKWB for the 980TI. I'm wondering how the cooling is with a single thicker 2x120 rad as that would open up space to put a 3.5 HDD on the floor. Bit concerned with a Skylake i7 and a 980TI SC card. At this point i'm trying to work out...

NCASE M1 picture and build general log

Has anyone tried mounting a second radiator at the bottom with a 980 Ti, I'm a bit concerned about the clearances for the fittings on rads. (I'm about to embark on a N1 build myself)

    WTB: Steelcase Leap

Look for any local office furniture places. If you live in a big city, you can usually find resellers / refurb places that sell em for cheap. I picked up a fully loaded Leap for 300$ a few months ago.

Cable sucks, So... HTPC, ROKU, KODI or ?

Honestly, I love the Roku 3. I used to have a huge NAS + HTPC set up but I ended up leaving it at home with my parents. I spun up a Plex server on my desktop and just use the Roku 3 on the TV mainly for Netflix and Prime Video, and if nothing good, I'll go to my movie and TV library on Plex...

    ASUS Announces Strix Sound Cards

SoundBlaster Z and Soundcards in general aren't subject to the stability issues nowadays because when Microsoft went to Vista, the driver architecture changes isolated the kernel from most drivers. This was directly in response to the perception that Windows was unstable and crashed compared to...

    Need a new microphone

The Audio-Technica AT2020 USB is a great mic if you like the snowball. I used one for years and it still works fantastically (I've since handed it off to friend of mine and upgraded to the RODE-NT USB. If you want to stick with Blue, the Yeti is a good quality mic, though it's HUGE and a bit...

    ASUS Announces Strix Sound Cards

Seconding this. Honestly, I haven't had an offboard sound card in about 6 years. Last card I had was an Auzentech Xplosion (RIP Auzentech). Though I do sometimes miss CMSS 3D or Dolby Headphone, i'm perfectly satisfied with my offboard DAC/AMP. Music and Movies sound fantastic and I...

    Official Acer [XB270HU] 27" 1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS ULMB Monitor Thread

The more I read this thread, the more I appreciate how lucky I got. I have a bit of backlight bleed on the bottom right corner, and bottom middle, but honestly, it's unnoticeable unless I'm showing a black screen. Honestly, the monitor is one of the best I have had (asides from my Dell...

    Laptop recommendation

I have the XPS 13 with the i5, and honestly i couldn't be happier. My particular XPS13 came in at...

    Onboard vs Offboard Audio

my FLAC Library is configured via Foobar2000/ASIO already and that's what I use for my A-B testing so I'm clean on that front. Spotify is pretty much at the mercy of DirectSound from my understanding. The TOSLink cable not being as transparent as USB does come as a surprise but I should have...

    Onboard vs Offboard Audio

The only practical changes that are possible are Optical, USB or a separate sound card. I can tell the difference to some extent, but at the end of the day I'm looking for a good balance of price vs performance. I'm plenty satisfied with the Magni 2/Modi 2 Uber combo and the only thing I can...

    Onboard vs Offboard Audio

Yea, I figured it'd be marginal just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. RealTek for just straight audio is pretty solid, more the connection points and on-board noice become an issue. Optical pretty much bypassed all those from what i hear. Wasn't sure if discrete cards did...
