Linux OS SSD recommendations $100 budget

Hey, looking for a 200+GB to replace my old Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB. The drive is still good, I just need more space. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04 on an ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel, Core i5-2500K Thanks!

Need a new drive for Macbook Pro Mid-2012

Hey guys, my wife's HD took a dive and AppleCare expired. It had a Hitachi 500GB 5400rpm drive and she never used more than 60GB on it, most of that is just music and videos which is also backed up so it really doesn't need to be there. I don't want to spend more than $100-120, and would like...

    mdadm RAID5 ate my drives!

Ok, but I think I'm past that point. I understand 1TB=931GB, it's shown in the original post. I didn't know about RAID reducing to the smallest amount available, so that's why I'm now going to move to to a drive pool solution like FlexRAID. If anyone has suggestions on the implementation or can...

    mdadm RAID5 ate my drives!

I just bought 2 more 3TB drives and I'm looking to remove all of the 1TB drives from the setup. My plan: Use FlexRAID to create a pool with the 2 new 3TB drives Copy over all of the data from /dev/md0 to the new pool. Delete the mdadm RAID5 array. Add remaining 2TB and 3TB to the pool.

    mdadm RAID5 ate my drives!

I'll just switch out the two 3TB and put them on the mobo sata, that shouldn't cause any issues right? putting the 1TB on the other controller.

    mdadm RAID5 ate my drives!

    Does this seem right to anyone? I just put in 2 3TB drives into my RAID5 and was only given back 1.8TB of usable space. /dev/md0 6.3T 4.5T 1.8T 72% /data /dev/sdh1 - 1TB (capacity: 931GB) /dev/sdi1 - 2TB (capacity: 1863GB) /dev/sdg1 - 1TB (capacity: 931GB)...

    Crucial M4 v2?

So I went to grab a 64GB from the newegg mailer and noticed the packaging was completely different on the Crucial SSD. The model number has a 2 at the end also. But looking at the crucial site they don't mention anything new about it, but they do show a new badge on the drive...

Compressing my Kids DVDs on my media server

handbrake, make mp4 files with the iphone header enabled. reason? you never know what you'll stream to in the future/present and if friends come to stay and want to use it with their devices. i re-encode everything to mp4 with handbrake simply because its more universally accepted.

Gigabyte z68xp-ud3 overclocking and setup thread

sounds like Z68XP-UD3P is the way to go for overclocking and Z68XP-UD3 is just a nice generally cheap board for people wanting Z68 - like me. i really hate all these motherboard model numbers, there are 20 different z68 boards from gigabyte.

it's actually vise-verse. the $50 is now with the i7, not the i5. these things trade off back and forth frequently at MC, hell this facebook deal might not even work with the $50 off. EDIT: btw, this is not $120 off, it's $30 off from the normal price.

Hard Drive Prices Soar 28 Percent After Thai Floods

hoping for an end of year return to normalcy. I think I can hold out until then. I can't justify to myself buying new 2TB drives for twice the price. Remember when RAM prices went skyrocketing and they came back down after a year, now they're cheaper than ever. Just have to wait, and buy...
