I still have a PIII 500MHz that I use a file server although last week the power supply failed. I am having trouble locating a new power supply that has the "old school" connectors. Does anyone know where I can find one?
As long as the pc is fulfilling all of your needs you're golden. I'm still rockin' the s754 myself and probably will for at least another year. Between school and work there's not much time left to upgrade my PCs.
After finals this week I'm going to try and overclock my 3200+ even further...
I have G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) I'll let go for $90.00 shipped. I bought it brand new in August 2007 from Newegg. PM me with any questions.
I'm glad to hear others are still enjoying their s754 setups too. For my tasks there is no reason to move beyond s754 at the moment. Heck, I could probably get by with this setup for the next 18 months and be perfectly content. By then quad cores will be in abundance and maybe AMD will be back...
Have you tried overclocking your processor at all? I think you'd get some satisfaction from it and it would cure your urge to upgrade. Personally, I wouldn't spend anymore money on your s939 setup unless it's a new video card. Save your money for a future build.
Mac, that's a nice OC at 1.70v. I had my 3200+ up to 2.81, but I had to clock it back down to 2.4 and drop the volts back down to 1.4v since I don't have A/C in my home and my case was getting toasty.
Is this really true? The DIR-655 is not listed as an Xbox Live compatible router.
Edit: My router is 2 floors above my Xbox, so I would be using the wireless part of the router for my gaming experience. If the DIR-655 is compatible with my Xbox then I'll go that route over the DGL-4300.
I have an old Compaq Presario PIII 500MHz with 128mb RAM at my parents house collecting dust. I'll reformat the HD this summer and maybe use it for browsing the web and such. After all, it was my gaming machine back in '99. :)
Has anyone else here purchased one of the 3200+ Venice cpus Newegg...
Yeah, s754 will be around for awhile yet in my house. I don't plan on upgrading to another socket until the quad cores are in abundance. Maybe 18-24 months away?
The latest game I have installed on my machine is Far Cry and that's only because it came as a free gift with my 3000+ Newcastle...
Thanks for sharing your info Mac! I recently purchased one of the 3200+ processors myself from Newegg. I will be installing it in about a month after finals. My 3000+ Venice is chugging right along at 2.61GHz (261x10) on my Biostar TForce 6100 mb. I will be posting my results when I get an...
KillingField1975,
I'm glad you're having fun with s754. I plan on keeping my s754 Venice rig for at least another year or so. In fact, I just purchased a 3200+ Venice cpu from Newegg about 10 days ago. I will be testing it within the coming month. Here are the CPU-Z validations for two of my...
