I posted previously (#510) thinking that this would not be considered one of the greats. I'm about 20 hours in and I was wrong.
This game is outstanding. The exploration, the leveling system, the combat, is all very satisfying and rewarding.
PC Ultrawide support and 60+ fps would be great...
I was curious about the general thoughts of summoning as well. I do use them, as it makes sense with a melee build. However, after enough "sprays" my jellyfish can eventually poison the bosses I've encountered so far. Which means I can basically guard/dodge as I watch the bosses health bar...
Sooo is this a sequel to the Souls games? I'm not caught up on the story if that would at all matter.
I played thru and beat Sekiro, so I was kinda hoping Elden Ring is a separate/standalone story like that.
Actually, I'm the opposite and have always been a homebody. I just get too antsy around the house and feel like I should be doing other stuff up to a point in the day.
For example, wife and kids are gone for 3 days next week. I took the days off for some quiet time, but instead I'm pulling out...
None of the above. Even if it was truly a Top 3 or Top 5 game of all time you would never know it.
We live in a different time and people are feeble and most have a hive-mindset. All it will take is a few issues/bugs here or there to propagate into a big mess due to sharing pics on Twitter...
I have the same problem, so I consider this my "slow burn" game so that I can play both. As I did with Red Dead 2 and Witcher 3, I try to commit to a good 1-2 hour session of this a week (maybe more if time allows). That way I don't forget too much of the story progress while also allowing time...
I have a legit question. I see that the 6900xt is readily available at a number of retailers...how come the demand on that card isn't as high?
Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know the price-to-performance ratio isn't that great at all on that card. But I thought the price-to-performance metric went out...
Agreed. I'm finishing up the PS4 version of Horizon Zero Dawn DLC on my PS5, and to me, the graphics look same tier as Cyberpunk on my 3090 PC setup. Perhaps the key is the OLED screen my PS5 is hooked up to :)
On top of that, there are also great games such as Hades, Dead Cells, that don't...
Nice. Almost 1000 hours in SF5....I'll be ready to do it all over again in SF6.
Like Domingo mentioned, it's easy to squeeze in a few matches here and there real quick. Really the only genre you can do that.
I'm at the age where loading my wood stove and just sitting and enjoying the warmth is almost as enjoyable as gaming.
Rather than getting robbed on the next generation of GPUs, maybe I'll consider a new stove with a nice glass window and a big firebox.
Got back into Cyberpunk. I re-started a campaign from scratch (since it's been about a year since I last played) and I'm having a good time. I'm trying to play in a similar way as my first go, but I've already gone down a completely different path, which is kinda amazing.
This genre is typically not my cup of tea (top view, too much VFX, icons, cool downs, corny characters, spamming buttons, blah blah), but I may give it a try for kicks.
My prediction is as follows:
There was only a 2 year gap between BF3 and BF4...with that in mind, we will see a proper BF6 in 2-3 years using similar assets as 2042 (lore setting, etc). but it will have more of a traditional battlefield feel: condensed/better thought out maps, some naval...
BF has never been huge on Twitch as people don't want to watch a streamer die over and over again. BR's are much slower paced with a "narrative" that are much more watchable.
If we're going by Twitch as a metric, the "Just Chatting" section is almost always at the top. Does that mean that...
I agree with those, but just curious...do people ever make a lists of things that have been improved/added compared to previous titles? I bet not, as positive posts don't nearly get as many views/clicks as negative ones.
It's currently holding a 79 on Metacritic, which is a bit higher than I would have guessed. Not great, but definitely not in the category of "poor initial reviews".
Some are saying they will go back to BFV, but if I recall, when BFV launched they were saying they were going to go back to BF4...
I'm really liking this game as well. The design approach and aesthetic really stands out to me. The 2042 maps can be big at first, but I've learned to just focus on one small section for a while, and then when it's time to move somewhere else try to hop in a vehicle.
I'm getting some frame...
I've finished the Norman campaign and have also been playing online multiplayer. I'm having a blast and absolutely love this game. 2v2 online is really starting to grow on me, as having a partner seems to give you some leeway and margin for error (assuming matched with others of same skill)...
I don't understand...why couldn't they have just given us a custom character creator or skin set, and we could each choose the special ability we would like to use? The special abilities could be un-lockables and/or purchasable items but they wouldn't need to be tied to a specific operator...
I've beat the single player campaign and now I'm having a blast playing as Julianna and stalking Colt's. I keep meaning to boot up other games, but I keep coming back to this game to "protect the loop".
I'm about 18 hours into the campaign and haven't been able to equip any weapon trinkets since the game crashes as soon as I try to assign one to a slot. So I've basically been playing without any trinkets.
Also, I'm starting to get more crashes during gameplay as well, so I'm going to hold off...
Day 1 buy for me. I'm not really going to read the reviews since most of them will probably dock it 1 point (out of 10) off the bat for not having a single-player mode. Guaranteed.
This is a Battlefield game, no single player needed in my opinion.
Battlefield is my favorite gaming franchise. My biggest concern with launching a Battlefield game in this day and age is the fact there will almost certainly be some sort of leveling-up, progression, skin system, etc. etc. to pander to the new era of gamers. People can't play multiplayer games...
For sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but this whole thing is irritating me, actually mostly because it's keeping people out of the hobby. I remember as a "kid" coughing up $339.99 at the Egg in 2006 for an X1900XT. $339.99 in 2006 is equivalent to $450 in today's money...for a just about...
Ummm...maybe that's because you are trying to play DOOM with a controller....
Just kidding. I myself just played thru Ancient Gods Part 1 but will wait for the RTX update before moving onto Part 2.
