Just for sake of argument, there are going to be 32 Vista SKUs.
9 Client (x86 and x64) (18)
5 Server (x86/x64) (10)
1 IA64 Server (IA64) (1)
3 Support CDs (OPK/WDK/SDK)
Everyone happy?
My understanding is that Xeon's are the worst you can get if you're looking for low-noise. You can always go liquid-cooling and that should reduce most of your noise (get an Active PFC power supply.)
unhappy, it's a sweet mobo
I'm only running 4GB right now, but I plan to upgrade to 8GB in the next couple of months.
I'm just debating about running WS03 x64 Enterprise now. I think it'll give a significant performance bump than XP64.
Well, you didn't mention the brand of laptop nor the brand of the video chipset, so it'll be hard to help at all. I won't get your hopes up, however. Drivers are (generally) the last phase of OS development to be perfected, so you'll likely have to make-do with 1024x768 until a better driver...

I've updated my board and it's working fine. There are some obvious changes to the BIOS menus, but that's about it.
Performance values haven't changed.
Why not just install XP64 clean? If you do this, then I can help you better from there...
Personally, I never upgrade an operating system, even if it's supported or not.
Yup, I'd have to agree. Go with an Athlon64 X2 (3.8) and you can build a decent system for around $500, depending on how "cheap" you want to go. (I'm referring to cheaper parts versus the higher quality, but more expensive parts.)
With that, I don't know if you'll even need SLI. You may...
This happens on my Intel Xeon system (with XP32) at work. My Opteron (with XP64) doesn't like it I guess. I've sent mail to Apple on this... I may try uninstalling QT all-together and re-installing it. It's possible something didn't get updated correctly.
BTW, movie trailers work just fine.
Anyone else seeing this? I'm trying to run this with Quicktime Pro 7.0.4 and WinXP64. Can't seem to do it though -- keep getting a Quicktimeplayer.exe crash. Nice job Apple.
No, you don't need to have both. You choose one or the other. Some people choose to dual-boot XP32/XP64 for various reasons.
Yes, most games (made within the last year) should work just fine. There are several threads on this subject (in this same sub-forum.) And yes, if you install...

PS. They can't ship x86/x64 bits on the same disc -- space limitations.
I would go for the A+ for now and then look into the MSCE/MSCD certs if you are into Windows operating systems. The Cisco certs are very valuable but much more intensive (and costly.)
It just depends on what you want to do in the Industry. There's so many different positions out there. If...
I'll add to this:
Call of Duty
CoD 2
Age of Empires 3
World of Warcraft
Tiger Woods 2006
PS. I haven't had any issues while playing games either. I think if you stick with games that are relatively newer, then you'll be fine.
Depends on what you're doing with it. Everything you listed in your signature has 64-bit drivers. (Well, my Audgiy 2 does, so you might want to check on Creative's site to make sure they have drivers for the Audigy.)
So far, only on application won't run on XP64 (Aquamark) -- which is no big...

Yes, this has been happening for me too. I run 4 different processes, and when I have to stop them manually (CTRL-C) via the CMD windows, it seems that EMIII has issues when trying to restart them.
The fix for me is simple -- as soon as it errors out (you'll hear some audible alert) --...
Can you explain your logic here? I deal with servers all day long and they can be much easier to build in some cases. Look at my signature. I have a essentially what you're asking for -- I just haven't bought my SATA2 drives yet.
You can skip the dual-core processors and get Opty 248's and...
You can easily build a dual opteron server for less than $2000. You'd be close to the limit, and that includes a Terrabyte RAID0 or a 500GB RAID1 SATA2 array at the price as well.
I'm working a couple of QMD cores right now, and EMIII computes it out to 36 hours. Those will get 450 points each (p1911.)
I did get a p2078 with my BigWU off and ADV on -- on the Opty. p2078 must be Beta as it doesn't even show up in the summary stats. It's 244 points.
UPDATE: On my...
Hooray! I was able to sit down and modify the vendor's XP32 INF file for XP64. It works great! Now I am fully operational on WinXP64!
If you have this film scanner, feel free to PM me for the working INF file.

Are you setting both the advanced methods and the Big WU flags? I'm just setting the advanced and it only comes up with the smaller cores. I just don't want to get one of those QMD cores -- since they run slow on AMD systems.
I found one on B&N called Protein Structure and Function. It's probably just a bit over my level, but I'm sure it'll kick-in whatever remnants is left of my college biology lectures. ;)
Here's a few nice samples though I found on another web site...
I searched Amazon today for a few books on molecular biology, protein folding and other relevant subjects. I was overwhelmed by how many books there are. Can anyone who has done "work" in this field recommend a good college-level text on the subject? I would like to understand the whole...
The boot loader has changed for Vista. I haven't tried this personally, so I won't be much help to you. I don't think it's as simple as deleting files. I don't know if you can "repair" the partition to restore the old boot loader.
Be sure to back up your data before trying anything, but...
With the cost of SCSI these days, I wouldn't go near it. Besides, with SATA2 you can obtain some pretty nice TB arrays these days!
We have several JetStor SATA jbods in our lab with 400GB HD (x16, I think.) The cost/GB is quite a bit cheaper.
