Based on your sig, overclock the crap out of that c2d and watch your minimum fps skyrocket - from 3ghz to 3.6/3.8 would make it seem like you upgraded your gpu.

It could be on par with the 4890 - 5870 leap, depending on how aggressive they are with the spec's of the card, 50% is a big ask considering clock speeds won't be raised to unimaginably higher speeds from a 40nm - 28nm drop. Realistically they will probably just cram more shaders/rops etc...

Most cards come in a factory aftermarket-cooler flavour now, cost is almost the same unless you get an o/c card. Shop around as where i live reference cooled cards can be more expensive in cases, put the better cooled card in the top slot. Easy.
