This thread has single-handedly inflated the market price of these displays. The majority of these used units are not worth anywhere close to the prices sellers have been asking. It's laughable, actually.
Are the focus pots on the flyback set "perfectly" at the factory? I'm curious if they only require adjustment as a result of (significant) physical monitor displacement or if focus is an attribute which "drifts" with time.
I am interested in purchasing a small display that will be used for the purpose of showing video content via a laptop at a trade show. As far as price is concerned, the cheaper the better (<$200). Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
I called NEC and was told they had no more new units available for replacement (only refurbs). However, they did say they were "on order" and were unable to provide me with a date as to when they would be received. This model, of course, has recently been discontinued, and I dont have faith...
RB30, thanks for the suggestions/info.
I suspect the cable is fine, and I actually already tried fiddling with the scaling options you speak of in the NVIDIA Control Panel. As you suggested, I think the culprit is the video card (just doesn't support the needed res over DV). Using the DV...
I recently purchased a BenQ FP241W and have been experiencing a strange issue. The monitor is connected with the supplied DV cable to a GeForce FX5200. When changing the display resolution to 1920x1200 (native), I can only view about 7/8 of the screen real estate at a time. The remaining 1/8...
Thanks for the prompt reply and info! Just out of curiosity, was there anyway for you to verify the replacement units you received were new? (Did NEC suggest they were new or were you just able to tell based on the packagaing etc.?)
Thanks again. :)
Sorry for the late reply!
Thanks vick1000 and abcdelight for posting pictures! Very much appreciated. I wanted to also post some pictures but have been unable to take any that really capture the screen uniformity issue.
At this point, I'm not sure what to do. I purchased the unit from...
I recently purchased a NEC 20WMGX2 and after setting it up noticed there appears to be some screen uniformity issues (backlight bleeding). I also noticed one "dead" pixel and a small "smoke-like" imperfection (difficult to explain) behind the screen located within the same vicinity as the...
I recently picked up a used/defective FW900. I was hoping that it might be repairable.
When the unit is powered on, the LED on the front panel turns green, and the monitor makes four (4) short "buzzing" or "clicking" noises. While it is making these noises, nothing is displayed on the screen...
Mathesar and others who have ordered from "ruminahui2" via eBay: Have any of you closely inspected the screen of your monitor(s) with a flashlight, searching for scratches/dints etc.?
Most of the eBay auctions I see for used GDM-FW900s advertise the screens of the units as being in...
Wow, considering they were ~$2,000-2,400 (new) when they were still in production, I expected to hear a higher figure. Only a little over double the cost of a used unit?
I have owned a LaCie Electron 22blue IV (Mitsubishi 2070) and currently own a Sony G520P. I also happen to be typing this message on my parents' Sony G520 (non-P). :))
I ended up returning the LaCie for the G520P. Despite the extreme praise everyone seems to give the Diamondtron series, I...
I would suggest the Sony G520. I currently own a Sony G520P but have owned a regular G520 and a LaCie 22" Electron Blue IV (same tube as the 2070SB). I ended up sending the LaCie back because it had too many geometry problems. Specificially, the top ~1/4" of the screen was stretched...
Any luck? I wanna get my hands on a DS Lite too, but I can never find a decent deal.
I checked a local BB but couldn't find any 30% coupons. I tried to look through them but felt awkward standing there with everyone around. I grabbed a handful but didn't find any in it. :( They have them...
Sounds like a convergence issue... open the OSD and try changing the left left-right convergence. This is sometimes show as arrows pointing inward like this ">||<."
My Sony G520 (purchased new in 2001) has been doing the exact same thing on and off for the last year or so. Unfortunately, I have not been able to observe any consistent pattern with the problem.. The monitor can be off overnight and go "blurry" the next morning after being on for only 3...
That is very interesting... It is strange that it is happening on both CRT's. Have you tried moving them from their current position and moving anything magnetic away? (Although I would assume that you would see discoloration as well..
I did have a Diamondtron-based CRT recently that had...
I have only recently been turning my monitor off at night, but before I was leaving it in it's power saving mode (amber light on). I leave my PC off over night as well. I'm using a Sony G520P CRT, and just a few days before your thread I actually emailed Sony asking them what they recommended...
mathesar,
I know this thread is about the FW900, but I had another question about your G520P. I know it takes about 10 min. from power-on for the black levels on the 520 to get really black. I was wondering if you noticed this occurence when you first purchased it brand new.
Thanks.
