Roku accounts hacked

Another day, another service losing its customer account info.

This wasnt Roku's fault, this is people using the same login info across multiple services. People should know better by now, but they dont...

In a statement Friday, the company said about 576,000 user accounts were accessed using a technique known as credential stuffing, where malicious hackers use usernames and passwords stolen from other data breaches and reuse the logins on other sites.

Roku has had a rough road with all their money being tied up in Silver Valley Bank = SVB down fall.

Yep. I'm in the process of changing the password to all my mom's accounts. She uses the same password for like 300 different accounts.

Literally how a bunch of people got their Ring cameras "hacked" a while back.

I think they started forcing MFA eventually?

Loved when every so often one of those sextortion scams would sneak though the filters and someone where I used to work would call in a panic about how someone has their password and recorded them beating the brakes off their meat.

And I'd have to explain the scam works because they've been using the same dog shit password everywhere for the last 16 years

Ya, i did this with the mother-in-law - set up her accounts on her device, all recovery options go to my number or emails (she didnt want to have a lock screen on her phone... forced that at least) and she has lost her phone 3 times in 2 years.... I then explained how her unlocked phone gives someone full access to all her SMS, WhatApp convo's and people, who will trust post from her and click crap too...only then did it start to just barely sink in.
