4080 Super: New Owners Thread - Share your experience!

Congrats on getting a Founder's Edition.

I just got informed that Nvidia website is now out of stock on FE. So I'm glad that I put in the MSI order and at least secured a video card.

RIP the dream of an FE. But I can live with getting similar performance.

At least the MSI has a fairly conservative color scheme which should work in my case. Gray and Black.

The MSI is a good looking card.
Checked in with my 13 year old son after I snuck that 4080 Super TUF in is rig (instead of his RTX 4090 that he had previously) - he did not notice anything better or worse. Win win. Performance-wise it's like 20% less - so not a crazy amount that a lay person would take notice of.
lol.. you pay the bills so...

As far as bots and BestBuy, I think the hackers(bot code writers) will always find a way around anything they do. They need to do some in-store only sales the next few times these are in stock. They did that a few times with the 3xxx series and it was the only way I got my 3090.

Just upgraded 2 weeks ago from a gtx 1080 to the asus tuf oc 4080 super and I'm blown away. Using my pc as a htpc so I wanted something to do 4k 120 gaming on and so far it delivers! Bought a cablemods 12v cable that plugs directly into my psu instead of using the conversion adapter that came with the card and its been rock solid.

My oled supports vrr so not hitting a consistent 120 isn't a huge deal, but this card has been doing a fantastic job at it anyways. Some games like helldivers 2 dips to the mid 80s when the firefights get intense but thats just more my cpu struggling lol. That said my 9600k is holding up pretty well and my fps isnt to far behind reviewers in most games (like 10%), I was afraid it would bottleneck way more.

Card itself is so quiet and cool, with my cases fans at the bottom I haven't seen a temp higher than 68C when gaming hard.

Overall super happy with the 4080 Super.

Shameless photo of the card in its place lol (case isn't nearly as bright and the lights are much more white in person, my phones camera just blows it out to much)

ASUS GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB GDDR6X Noctua OC Edition

I've always wanted this card but the pricing has been so out of whack...still is...but not nearly as bad as previously ($1300 now versus $1650 for the 4080). After dumping my 4090s I'm all about getting the fun cards to close out this gen.

Ridiculously (and needlessly) cool with the vapor chamber and Noctua fans combo. Fun card. They make these in limited quantities - lost my chance with the 4080 so locked it in for 4080S.

Vapor chamber keeps is crazy cool (unnecessarily - but it is damn quiet):

My god that card is comically thick. :ROFLMAO:

Most models - of the 4080S are quiet, decent temps, right? Is it still the same story?: coil whine is random - and it depends on what your configuration is for stressing the card - &/or it's just random card by card - chance?

I'm mostly looking at used 4080s - but, if I can budget it - the choices for me (looks like) - either a Zotac 4080 Super Trinity or PNU Verto 4080 Super (OC)....

The only big difference I see between the 4080 Supers is cooler noise. Seems like every card is within 5C of each other and all run well under thermal limits, and all seem to perform within a few fps of each other.

Exactly. They're all identical, really. NVIDIA has long neutered OC capabilities to where you're looking at single digit percentage point gains. The FE is the best 4080 or 4080S to get due to price and overall quality. After that, just get the best price/size/warranty.

pavel great idea to go 4080 - used they're way cheaper than 4080S and perform the same.

I definitely would have gone used 4080 route but they're not easy to find. I think I saw one FS here on the forum.

I installed mine a short time ago. I like the subtle RGB on the Tuff model. Big card for sure. I also picked up the Seasonic Vertex for native support for PCIE Gen 5 to celebrate. The Vertex is a nice piece of kit and comes with cables that seem to have come straight from the cable mod factory.

Is this a 4080S? You should have included pics of the box so it would be certain that it was a Super. :)
The 4080 Tuf Super is always out of stock in my country. I'd pick that one, too, if it was an option.
