RGB switches now?! Ubiquiti Pro Max 24 PoE

Hmmm...there's function over form here, so I could see this become a new standard in data centers...

it would look slick as fuck though....

hum... I guess it can make sense but what about then end from the patch panel?

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but what is the benefit to data center management or staff? Since when have data centers paid extra for "slick?"
I could see it being a huge benefit when they're trying to find a cable that's gone bad.

"configure the lights to respond to power consumption changes on the master outlet." meh, one lights good enough for me....
Hmmm...in a rackmount configuration to go along with the lighted cables on the switches...I could possibly go along with that...

All i can imagine is some geek in the network closet dancing with the LEDs going wild, listening to EDM or some shit. 🤣
lol, would be quite epic. A whole party in a server room would actually be next level. :D

This from the same company that brings us “enterprise” gear controlled by a joke piece of software - and without any enterprise features.

Their user base probably love this, though! 😅

The day it was revealed that their software was compromised and their reaction clearly put them out of the 'enterprise' camp. Enterprise companies don't address severe security issues by blowing off their customers concerns.

"computer, please identify the switch port connected to Mr burns office terminal"

"Sure Homer, you'll find Mr burns office terminal port is flashing red"

"Thanks computer, I owe you a beer. Cya at Moe's after work"

Youll never see ubiquiti equipment in a real datacenter.
Forgot about this--good point.

But I still remember the day when Bay Network's smb oriented 'Netgear' division came up with the small activity leds inside the rj45 port. It was completely new at the time as you usually had the port and then a section on the switch with leds and port numbers. Today look at where that small innovation is...everywhere....

First thing I thought of for the colors... VLAN number. But of course, 1) you'd have to memorize vlan & color combinations; and 2) some people have color blindness. :)

Of course, the kid in me wants all LC fiber cables to "glow" when there is data going thru them.... yet we don't see that. :(
That's initially what I thought these were--would be a bit trippy if each of the cables was flashing like the activity light. But would also make a good case to make data centers surround a dance floor. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
