Hopefully with Sony's help they can increase asap. Game looks like a blast, from from what I've read about the micro transactions they are actually pretty cheap, and the game is only $40.

I'm not to butt hurt over some micro transactions when they are respectfully priced and the game isn't a full price title.

Waiting for issues to play out then I will contemplate picking it up, any idea how it's runs on a gtx 1080?

Sounds like Sony and Arrowhead didn't expect the game to be so popular. It launched with a max capacity of 250k players. Between the 155k on PC and add console players to that, this was clearly not enough.

Of all the excuses I've heard from devs for the shit state of servers, this is one of the most reasonable and funny lol. Good for them, it sucks their serves are getting bent over the kitchen sink but you can't fault them for thinking they weren't going to be that popular.

A 1080 Ti struggles at 2560x1440 resolution no matter the settings, so a 1080 isn't going to run it too well.

1920x1080 is 33% fewer pixels, and a 1080 is 15% slower than a 1080 Ti at that resolution. So I'd figure around 55 FPS at 1920x1080 with low settings. The stuttering in the video above is an issue, though.

Really hope the matchmaking is fixed soon, game is fun and it is frustrating not being able to get into groups.

I had to turn my settings to low on my 7900xt as I was getting MAD crashing with a buddy of mine. I would join back in after crashing and as the pod was about to hit the ground, I would crash again, joined again and then crashed again...rinse and repeat.
Devs advised 7*** series GPU users to turn down the settings a lot and it's been working so far. Really lame. But yes, this game is kick ass.
As above I had this problem even with a 3090 when I started near release using Oct 2023 era drivers. Updating my drivers to the latest late Jan2024, I got continuous black-screen-on-load crashes...until one of the patches came in for the game. After that I could log in and have no problem with playing 4K w/ Native resolution setting and graphical settings at the "High" preset (maybe even Ultra, can't remember if I swapped to Ultra yesterday to test or not . I hope that one of the patches and/or drivers will do the same for your card; it seems unusual for the 7000 series to have these sorts of issues as the PS5's graphics chip is AMD based. Do 6000 series users have the same problem or is it specific to 7000?

is this the first PlayStation game to launch day and date on PC?
Honestly not sure, but depending on how you want to define "playstation" studio, it could be. Its particularly of interest that most of the problems seem to be on the console side of things and/or crossplay. This, combined with the purchase density on PC leading them to numbers that outdo the scheduled capacity for their matchmaking servers, I HOPE this only pushes Sony towards seeing the value of concurrent PC releases. I'm getting rather tired of year long second class citizen waits for most of their titles before coming to PC (with full pricing of course), thanks to garbage console exclusivity. If this helps to showcase that you can get sales above your top threshold you planned for launch if you (among other things like making a good game, pricing it reasonably etc) launch on PC concurrently, recognizing that not everyone will buy a PS5 but they WILL buy your game if given the opportunity.

Really hope the matchmaking is fixed soon, game is fun and it is frustrating not being able to get into groups.
Its better than it used to be thanks to the workarounds, but now that its Monday they'll probably be able to get the whole team back in the office to make the big changes, if what they said previously is accurate.

Interesting - A buddy of mine playing on his 2070super is running the game just fine at 1440p - medium ish settings and is getting anywhere from 60 to 70 frames.
He's also running on an i5 9600k too

It would be nice if I could play the game I bought, a good 30-40% of my 12 hours of play has been not being able to login or group find fails.

I picked it up today.
If you use wireless audio on PC, it fucking hates it and tried to play audio through the mic. Device manager driver disabling needed to fix.
Spent 2 hours unable to cue with anyone.
1x solo mission - hard crash when entering the extraction jet.
2x solo cue and had players join, both crashed during gameplay.
Subsequent games crashed when launching the pods.

Game has some potential, but its a very "porty" port. I know its a small team, but controls feel like they were never intended for a m/k and lots of polish issues. Even on maxed out settings, it looks.....old. Yah, the smoke and particle effects make it look ok, but the textures, world geometry, and set pieces are meh. For example, the mission bridge, the ships outside look like they are from a PS2. Moving around just feels....not great. It doesn't feel hoard enough. At most I have had a few dozen enemies at once. They seem to try and pressure you with harder enemies, but the game wants you to be overwhelmed by enemies like starship troopers movie, Left for Dead or DARKTIDE....it just never happens....and this is why it feels again, like a last gen console port that has to tip-toe around gameplay due to resource limitations. Movement and controls felt blegh.

The anticheat service they picked is a fucking joke.

I hope it improves. In the meantime, I'm going to refund. The game is far from what I want it to be and currently its in a near unplayable state with 100% of my games crashing. I have not had a game crash this much in years.

Yeah, spamming "Quick Match" 20+ times is rough. Even rougher is when you match up, spend 30 minutes in a map, only for them to kick you for no apparent reason. Zero reward/experience, 30 minutes wasted.

Apparently users with a 7000 series AMD GPU can just forget playing. Apparently they knew 5 days ago that the game doesn't work for AMD 7000 series and they have no idea why. Some users have had success turning all settings down as low as possible and locking their GPU clocks super low. But no fix in sight. 7000 user got a $90 icon(or refund)

Tonight has been MUCH better with servers. Joining quick matches are still rough. SOS never works for my two buddies and I - but so far we're loving it.

New update.

No love for AMD 7000 users still.

Shut off the radeon control center and it works fine. Gameshitter anitcheat doesn't like the radeon app hook and it spazzes out.

Makes no difference with adrenaline on or off. The only fixes I have seen for 7000 cards is people dropping all the settings as low as they go and locking the GPU clock way low and disabling all kinds of stuff....and locking it to 30 fps. I hear some people can get an hour or two. Not worth it.

Patch is annoying AF.

They added a queue timer when trying to connect to the game. Removing the ability to spam connect/try again.

I get it - removes overloading the servers, but that's a slap in our face as I can't even join with this rinse and repeat timer.

To be fair, spamming the "Try Again" button *never* worked for me. I would occasionally get in, but would never receive rewards or access to the "store" whenever I did.

But yeah, servers are still shit.

I’m running a 7000 series card and played for like 12 hours with no problem. Aside from crashing a few times whenever I interact with objects it seems pretty ok.

A patch dropped today that was supposed to help with login and matchmaking. It turns out that the devs didn't exclude full groups when looking for a match....

Game still rising on peak players - Hit 276k on steam alone.

and yay! Another queue method....adding a "Servers at capacity" message + plus the retry timer. Nice!

lol last night was a rough one for the queues.

To make up for last week's downtime, the devs are buffing XP and requisitions by 50% (you should see it on the Effects page on your ship). A couple of non-official "fixes";
  1. After the end of a mission, if everyone appears as level 0 and you don't receive completion rewards, log out/in. You should receive them retroactively.
  2. If you're having trouble queuing in with a friend, join on a game from your Steams friend list.

Poor game is suffering so badly from its own success, bought the game yesterday off gmg (couldn't pass up the 17% off lol).

I have it pre-installed but I'm not done work till tonight anyways so I'm just waiting till tomorrow or Tuesday to play instead. Hopefully by then the servers will be a bit better.

The game is jolly good fun with a group. I love seeing difficulty settings add mechanics rather than only scaling health/damage. The directional arrow minigame for calldowns/objectives is genius. The 2 enemy factions give a lot of variety in strategy and loadouts. The effort put into the cheesy propaganda pieces is great. The game seems well suited for the live service model. It has some rough spots with the servers and lobby UI but I think for game mechanics it's the best horde shooter I've played.

It also runs great on linux.

It's not, it's been borderline unplayable since release.

The devs just announced they are capping server capacity at 450k, this number is shared between steam and Playstation.

There is no idle kick, console players who dont purposefully log off count towards server cap.

The game is a raining success, for now, going to be hard to keep a player base when maybe 25-33 percdnt of people who bought the game can play it currently.
