It's seems that my MSI b450m board has died. I'm getting a vga error on post no matter what gpu I try. Looking for something comparable to run a Ryzen 2700x. It seems that a B550 board would also work. Let me know what you have to offer.

**EDIT** I found something

have you tested and/or changed the battery and done a good cmos clearing? those are about old enough for the battery to be dying and causing issues...

I reset the cmos, but didn't check the battery.
if its dropped lower than 3.1v toss a new one in. get a 2 pack for $1 at the nearest dollar store. while the old is out, unplug the power and hit the power button a few times, let it sit for a few minutes. that will clear the cmos good. worth a try while waiting to see whats offered up. i took a quick look in the fs/t and didnt see much...

I was honestly fighting with the same issue last night in putting testing three AM4 motherboards. Two were brand new MSI X570s and one was a previously used ASRock X570. The order they were tested in was; new, used, + new. The first brand new ones kept giving me, "D6" as the post code for, "No video detected," as well as the VGA light on the motherboard. I got it working after a while by swapping HDMI cables. Then the used one worked fine, but in testing the last MSI X570s (the same model as the first) the same VGA issues popped up again. A to B swapping every part from motherboard to motherboard would have it work or not work based on the motherboard model with the MSI X570s having constant issues. It ended up actually being something with that monitor or HDMI in general. As soon as I swapped to a different monitor and used a display port cable it worked fine. Taking the two MSI back to the original monitor if I used a DP to HDMI adapter on the GPU it would post. This was tested as consistent across 3 different model GPU's which all have HDMI and DP using; two HDMI cables, one DP to HDMI adapter, one Mini DP to HDMI adapter.

End rant / TLDR: Use a different monitor or display output rather than HDMI. This might be a wonky MSI AM4 platform issue with certain monitors rather than a dead motherboard.

Bump, I tried every trick suggested here with no success. I can't use a B550 board as they only support Ryzen 3000+.

this is totally untrue.....as i said in my post it the one i linked worked flawless with a 2700x first and every try

Good to know, AMD and the manufacturers seem to not want it known that older processors are supported.
look that motherboard likley works with any am4 cpu made....i know for a certified fact my older ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero will work with ANY AM4 cpu ever made or sold......if its using an older bios its works better with older cpus possibly and in most cases its needs a certain bios made after a certain date for say the 5000 gen cpus and likely the newest bios for the 3d chips.

that is the hole reason we AM\4 setups keep our system so long.....you got people that upgraded 5 different generations with the same board.
