intel 13th and 14th gen xx900 and xx700 may have defective cores causing crashes in gaming

This should be interesting. I hope it will level set the basic Intel performance expectations. Those lower baseline profiles are going to gimp these chips, from what we've seen with Gigabytes updated profile. Theirs makes sense now. Then, MOGA, make overclocking great again. Has AMD done the...

    OEM gaming SFF

Cooling is a big issue repurposing these higher end OEM SFF's. The proprietary nature of these systems make them a challenge to upgrade as HS's and fans are not plug and play. I tried a better HSF from HP, they make different TDP rated units for the same product stack, adding intake and exhaust...

13900K - Out of Video Memory or BSOD during shader compilation in two UE5 games

Buildzoid went through an extensive series of settings on a Gigabyte Aorus z790 Extreme X with a 14900K on the newest bios. It's a long one, only watched part of it, so far, but it looks like he covered a ton of possible settings and shows their effects. It may help some...

PG - can't see the subproject here. Numbersfields tasks jumped a bit since the announcement. Ramjam picking up.

I was going to say, this is the state of BOINC these days.

13900K - Out of Video Memory or BSOD during shader compilation in two UE5 games

I'm not sure about that game, but, you see the Gigabyte boards went ultra conservative on the Intel Baseline specs and the performance is measurable. That site you linked had data that is similar to other data I've seen posted. The difference in other games you play will vary. You may not...

    EK in hot water again?

Jayz moving away from EK. Pretty much going with what I have on my main system, HWL rads and an Optimus blocks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AZ7c_HvnoUY

intel 13th and 14th gen xx900 and xx700 may have defective cores causing crashes in gaming

And returns. I was in the return window on my 14th gen and let the retailer deal with Intel or their distributor. How many will be resold through those channels? Still waiting for Intel. Trust is pretty much gone at this point but May just started. If you want one, go old school and plan on...

Some Intel CPUs lost 9% of their performance almost overnight

Yeah, I saw a spec sheet that said those high end skus top out at 1.7, iirc - crazy.

I'm not going nuts like last year. But, I did get a cheap 4060 I'll add to the gpu stuff.

    HTPC, not for gaming

Your tv likely has apps for all those services and will run them as well or better than an htpc. There is an app for Plex, too. I run the plex app through one of my tv's that way. No pc or other external device. All apps. A lot of the features the hdmi 2.1 spec is geared to gaming and much...

13900K - Out of Video Memory or BSOD during shader compilation in two UE5 games

That pdf has an online version. It spells out Intel's own guidance is NOT a specification. iccmax - pick your config: https://edc.intel.com/content/www/us/en/design/products/platforms/details/raptor-lake-s/13th-generation-core-processors-datasheet-volume-1-of-2/vcccore-dc-specifications/...

    OEM gaming SFF

The 4060 fit in my z2 g4 sff fine. No issues. I had to mod the g5 sff. Its shorter. I moved it to an Antec case that's an oem knockoff, about the size of a g4, which allowed me to use a 12th gen cpu/mb and should be easier to upgrade later.

intel 13th and 14th gen xx900 and xx700 may have defective cores causing crashes in gaming

Intel has no one to lame but themselves. They have been saying publicly what the board manufacturers are doing is in spec for their cpu's. They've been saying it for years. Intel allowed them to push the chips with MB designed "normal" or "default" settings as they both benefit from the bigger...

    OEM gaming SFF

That sucks. Will the 4060 go in the HPZ2? It's the best bang for buck in the LP form factor, in my opinion. You might be surprised how much more gpu processing power it will bring to the table. It's crazy fast compared to the other LP options. The optiplex was a single slot due to the position...
