Well, well, well... I install the new patch and the game fired right up. I tried absolutely everything and nothing worked until this patch. Runs perfect and the graphics are beautiful. Thanks for the posts.

I have given up on this garbage piece of software. Spoke with EA a couple times and they push the same canned responses. Check DXDIAG, Disable everything but Microsoft in MSCONFIG, Defrag your hard drive...

No, mine runs fine. I don't know what you have been doing to your computer but I would suggest a reformat. *Same type of post you left for me in my BF3 thread*

I just bought a Corsair 120gb SSD so a reformat is in the cards anyway. For some reason, I still keep thinking that it's my soundcard preventing the game from launching. the lack of any driver updates being the giveaway.

I am going to figure this out. I will reformat today and if it's hardware, it will be replaced. I waited for this game for 2 years Something is borked with this game say on 1% of machines. Don't know what it is but if I get it figured out, hopefully this thread will be helpful to someone.

Yeah, tried that too. Also tried renaming BF3.par as well.

When I try this it downloads the update then the BF3 icon has a button "Ready to Install." I click it, the mouse cursor flickers for a couple minutes then right back to Ready to Install. Honestly, today was the first time that option was available with a right click, doesn't work though...
