Sorry to necro an old thread - interested to see if people have had any luck with 4-6TB HDDs on this Controller.
Looking if I should upgrade or if my trusty old AOC-USAS2-L8e will kick on :)
Thanks so much for the reply :) - I'm seeing that SnapRAID is a good option without the hassle of completely relearning, rebuilding and alike that comes with ZFS.
I'll need to look at more closely at SnapRAID vs FlexRAID to see if I should just stick with what I have after I add more drives...
It's been a few years since I stuck my head in here after the fantastic help I had building my own NAS (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1546329) - its still going strong but I have unfortunately run out of space haha!
My Setup:
CPU: Intel Quad-Core Xeon X3440 2.53 GHz, 8MB Cache, 2.5...
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I've had some time (and saved up a bit of $) to look at some options in regards to updating my F&P Server at home. This seems to still be a major concern of mine, however looking on the Supermicro website, there hasn't been a great load of updates to the 1156...
Think I'll end up going with the Sapphire Radeon HD7970 3GB OC Edition with Boost if I hear back from a few of you that its a good card.
In regards to the SSD - I currently have two options:
1. Samsung 256GB SSD 840BW Pro SATA3 2.5 - $259AUD
2. OCZ 256G Vector Series SSD - $275AUD
I'm leaning...
Thanks for the quick replies :). Here in Australia its currently looking like my local PC store is doing a deal on the Sapphire Radeon HD7970 3GB OC Edition with Boost for only AUD $399 (USD $412) - it seems that this can also be overclocked nicely and is cool from the reviews I've read.
I've...

Hmm - it was brand new RAM when purchased. Is there a way to confirm this? I haven't Overclocked or touched BIOS options.
Keep suggestions rolling in - anything else I can provide you with to help?
Indeed I have. Should of mentioned I've had this beep since I built this Server over 8 months ago.
Used to happen maybe once every few days, but as I mentioned this is happened 2-3 times an hour now.
Let me know how you go re-Manual testing - would be interested.
Would it be possible for you to paste your settings currently for you're 4.5GHz?
In regards to AC - negative - doesn't reach my 'Computer Den' haha - I'll take a look at the A70 - but would like to save some $ :).
As stated above, was hitting 70-80c under Prime for 2-4hours (that was back on my B2, haven't tested with my new thermal paste + B3 Motherboard but doubt things would of changed too much).
I might do a test tonight and update this here - I'm happy where I am atm with the above settings - I...
Would you say giving an Offset approach a go? Or using Manually and slightly rising to say 1.3Volts while lowering LLC?
Still not 100% sure what LLC is doing and if it is bad to set to Ultra High.
As mentioned I do live in Australia so my room temperature is like 28c - playing Crysis 2...
