But not so much back in 2008 ? It was another selling point for me at the time, as I think clearing the cmos was mostly done by jumpers ? Plus I like Gigabyte and chose the most expensive one at the time. :)
My favourite boards were from Abit. Then they went bust, so tried an Asus board, which I didn't like much, so sold it off and switched to Gigabyte.
My current ga-ex58-extreme has served me well since November 2008 with no problems at all.
I like it because of the dual BIOS, plus the buttons on...
Ah, Abit was my favourite motherboards, (along with BFG for gfx cards) and the last one I had was the Fatal1ty AN8 which I loved. When I built a new computer in 2008 I switched to Gigabyte, and used the GA-EX58-Extreme v1.0 which was their flagship board at the time, along with the Intel i7 920...
Perhaps Gigabyte X99 boards could have been contenders, as their boards are Thunderbolt ready, but need the add in card.
How correct this is I am not sure as I have only seen brief looks at these boards.

I am still happy with my 2008 build with a Gigabyte GA EX58 Xtreme board and i7 920 cpu, so not bad for a 7 years old set up.
However, I have my eye on a Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 + i7-6770k cpu, plus all the other bits to make completely new PC.
Just need the money now. :)
Late reply...been away.
My last Abit board was the AN8 Ultra NF4 Fatality, which was running up until 2008 when the cpu died, which was an X2 4400+.
I decided not to replace the cpu, and built a new system with Gigabyte GA EX58 Extreme plus i7 920 in November 2008 which is still my current...
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yes, the vertical banding is getting worse, but, once warmed up they disappear. The display is still great, banding or not. :D
I bought my 24" monitor back in 2008 as a refurb as it was about £50 cheaper than a new one, but only with a 6 months warranty, at the same times as I built my current PC.
The problem is that a year or two ago on switching it on from cold, I would get a few coloured vertical stripes down the...
When my Gigabyte 4870 X 2 went tits up in November 2011 after just under 3 years, it took about 3-4 weeks to get a replacement, but that was because I RMA'd it to the site I bought it from who tested it and then sent it on to Gigabyte. I got a 6870 OC card back, not as good a model as I had...
I wonder if in years to come anyone will buy BF3 in the bargain bin, and find the game is useless as there are no servers operational as no one plays it any more, as that is the only option you have. Unlike say BF2142 where at least you can play against bots.
I used to run Nvidia cards from the GF256 ending up with my preferred brand of BFG. Excellent service from them and my GF7800OC GTX lasted some 3 years and the replacement GF79xxGT or GS (I forget the exact model replacement) has been going strong on the spare machine for at least another 3...
