I agree with all of this. Also, pretty much every Gigabyte board I've had since like ~2003 has either died or had some kind of stupid issue, BIOS corruption etc etc. Always, never had anywhere near these kinds of issue with Asus/Asrock/MSI or even Biostar.
AMD, unfortunately, sat on it due to lack of R&D funds for RTG. I do agree with you though. I personally can't wait until 7nm drops as that's where I think we'll finally see some true competition between nVidia & AMD/RTG again. Vega isn't as bad as people like to make it out to be, especially @...
That's not really a true statement. Vega 64/56 are high-end cards, they soundly compete with the 1070/Ti -> 1080. It's just the 1080 Ti outclasses everything. It was late but they most certainly compete in the high-end space and will continue to do so for the forseable future, albeit hopefully...
WCCFTech has some prelim benches that's showing 7nm Vega being up to 70% faster clock-for-clock than V64. Take that with a huge grain of salt since it's both an engi sample and WCCFTech. Would be spectacular if true but I'd really like to know what was done to gain said performance if true. It...
Yeah and that move greatly benefited them, that's kind of a luxury AMD/RTG doesn't have atm. It also has allowed them to re-enable a lot of those features on their GPU's for the pro/compute/enterprise peeps who gladly pay out the ass for them. nVidia has pretty much been on an unstoppable kick...
That's why I hung onto my 2600K for so long, even with PCH/platform improvements. My 2600K was rock stable @ 5ghz and it just didn't make sense to update that setup until the 6700K came around. IB @ 4.8+ was a fight or required lots of voltage and Haswell until +/Devils Canyon wasn't much...
I believe it's just a refresh/spin ala 890FX -> 990FX. I did read somewhere though there would be an additional 4-8x PCI-E lanes but I'm not certain if that legit/rumor. I get what you're saying but I don't see the issue with it ala it's not a new socket or artificially limits/breaks...
What exactly where you expecting? This is essentially a light refresh? The "12nm" shrink also isn't really as big or novel as it sounds, it's marketing. Think of it more like 14nm/14nm+ etc etc.
This is basically what the 4790K/Devils Canyon was to Haswell. We're getting small clock bumps...
I want this board so bad but the 10GbE NIC variant for my home server refresh but I've been looking everyday and can't find it or any chips for sale anywhere. All the searches come up mum too as far as e-tail availability goes it all about OEM/ODM (which I get). Part of me wants to just hold off...
In for a 1950X and a Zenith Extreme. It's gonna replace a few FX-8 hypervisors I've got. I would actually prefer an Epyc, the SuperMicro H11DSi-NT is calling my name but it seems like it'll be a while until they're out in the wild for e-tail for both mobos and the cpus. Going to shoot for NewEgg...
Or he wants the absolute best performing rig without having to mess with overclocking or anything. I get where you're coming from but this is [H] after all. I have friends who build rigs like that, one in particular would rebuild every 18-24 and he'd always just purchase whatever the current...
I hate Comcast but this dude needs to get a clue. "My poor baby's being exposed to curse words in the sanctity of my home own home" Dude, your kid and every other 10 year old on this planet has heard much worse on the fucking playground or has partook themselves.
All this PC, safe space, social...
You can't go wrong with Asus' STRIX or Sapphire's Nitro cards.
That being said PowerColor also makes some great cards and I've personally never had any issues with the 2-3 I've had in the past.
I'm partial to XFX these days, other than a few things like lack of step-up for instance, I view...
