My sister called me today with a problem with her PC. She lives a long way from me, so it makes troubleshooting her issue a bit difficult.
She has an HP Omen 30L-GT13 desktop that she bought last June. Today it started acting up, when she first noticed some "black pixels" on her monitor. Then...
I have an update from Velocity Micro, they now say they can RMA my CPU to AMD, but that it may take some time to get the replacement. So that is a relief, assuming it doesn't take months. I don't have $700 to just pay for a part that is under warranty.
It seems a little odd they didn't offer...
Thanks....you give me hope....it does seem odd for a cpu to fail. I have not overclocked this system at all, and the CPU is liquid cooled. This is the first prebuilt I have bought in YEARS. I think my first was a Gateway I bought in the late 90's. Otherwise, I have built my systems, and have...
Thanks for the info....and man does that hurt. I would still want them to replace it, as I want them to test it to make sure that is the only problem. I wonder if I could buy the proc from Amazon and ship it to their repair department? I doubt they would allow that though....
What stinks is...
Everything I have read indicates the warranty is 3 years for AMD processors, but they always say as part of their "Processor in a box" program.
Is the warranty the same for a system I purchased from a business such as Velocity Micro? I bought one of their systems 2 years ago, and it has the...
My situation has changed with my PC since my last post, so I thought I would provide an update in case it is of any help to anyone.
The BIOS update I made to my system "fixed" the problem for a few weeks, then the same problem started creeping in again. Finally in January it got to the point...
Call me clueless, but I just recently discovered the existence of NVMe M.2 adaptors (from a response in another thread of mine). I have an ASUS ROG Crosshair Hero VIII motherboard and Ryzen 5950X CPU for my sytem. I already have 2 M.2 drives slotted into the motherboard.
I have a spare M.2...
I wanted to provide an update for those who responded or are following this thread.
I called and spoke to Scott at Velocity Micro today, and he had already read this thread, so he was aware of what I had tried with my system to date. That impressed me right off the bat.
We discussed my PC's...
Just an update - I made a USB Windows 10 boot drive this morning, and attempted to start the computer. It does the exact same thing as before, it gets past the BIOS splash screen, and the circle of dots start to spin then it freezes. I am not able to reinstall Windows. I will be calling Velocity...
Unfortunately, my old PC is about 10 years old, and does not have an NVMe slot, and until your question, I didn't even think about there being an adapter. I would have to order one to try.
