I'm in the market for a headset for my computer to use for VoIP (probably Google Talk) but I'm pretty confused. I've looked at getting just a standard analog headset...but after some research I discovered that my laptop (a 700m) has trouble with it's mic-in port...

Same thing happens with my girlfriends D600 but not my 700m. Firmware updates don't help and neither has Dell. I think we are just stuck with it.

Thats still an amazing laptop. Hell my laptop (see sig) will be a kicking laptop for years to come. The 5400 rpm hd is really of VERY little concern unless you are gaming and want to speed up those load times. The processor and ram in that baby are going to be strong for a long time.

Just tried out Sunbird and boy is this thing buggy. I'd like to move to the iCal medium so I can use things like PHP iCalendar (http://phpicalendar.net/ so pretty!) but Sunbird is too buggy right now. I'll stick to Outlook :(

I've used Outlook 2003 for as long as I can remember and I'm just wondering if there is something better out there that I've missed. If I had a Mac I'd be super happy (I love iCal) but alas I do not. Is there anything comparable? Sunbird maybe?

Chiming in again, because everyone is saying you need huge crazy resolutions and I disagree. Get something comfortable for your eyes. If you are squinting at the screen you will not get any work done. If it's too big, you might not be as productive, but you won't have to take a break every 5...

Third year Computer Engineer at Case Western Reserve University here. I get along perfectly fine with my 12.1 inch 700m as my only computer. The fact that I can program ANYWHERE I want to helps me big time. The laptop comes with me everywhere I go and when a stroke of genius hit I can stop...

So there you go, PM beats the P4. 6800 Go Ultra clobbers the x600. I think it really is no contest...there is a reason people are buying the XPS2...it is the best gaming laptop out there currently.

ZD8000 has an x600. The XPS2 has a 6800 Go Ultra. You will get WAY more performance out of the XPS2.

Boxing means it is traveling from Malaysia. So it can take a good amount of time.

sin, how do you like the xps2? hope everything is going well that is a gaming machine and you will get the most out of it if you do a complete format. Before you do it, go to dell's support site and download all the drivers and burn them. Not only is dell amazing at keeping that page...

IBM. You'll have better battery life, better portability, and better warranty (talking to Dell is very frustrating. I was lied to last time.). I wanted a t42 when I was shopping for laptops but couldn't afford it :(.
