I got the Abit KT7A and the 3Dfx off here from the same seller. The KT7A is the KT133 chipset. Seems like a good fit as the KT133 wasn't released long after the 5500.. I think KT266 chipset with DDR also be a decent fit. I have one running 1ghz athlon...coin toss which one to use for the...

    Looking for a Socket-462 (Socket-A) Heatsink

So true. My Cyrix PR200MX despite being critiqued as a hottest socket 7 chip at the time consumed a less than 30 watts. That 1.4Ghz Thunderbird is at a whopping 72 watts ....... which is considered Laptop/mobile nowadays.

    Looking for a Socket-462 (Socket-A) Heatsink

I went through several back in the days. I had one of those coolermaster bricks, tried the gold orb, and finally one with cooper contact as cooper was all the rave back then.

Old Socket-754 Motherboard help, SATA not working

That makes sense. I didn't even know there were different SATAs! So I 2003 mb would be sata 1.... I'm reading that in theory they should all be compatible but I guess sata 1 sometimes worse than ide!

Old Socket-754 Motherboard help, SATA not working

DVD drive powers up. Interesting, if I unplug the sata HD the sata DVD now shows up in the boot sequence but won't get past the initial post. Maybe there's something wrong with the onboard SATA controller? The CAPs on the MB mostly looks good. a few of the ones around the DDR DIMMs are...
