My understanding of Link Aggregation is not that 4 NICs in a LAGG = 4 x the bandwidth. A single connection cannot use it all at once. However 4 connections can all achive max throughput of a single NIC.
How does this work with iSCSI? I'm assuming it doesnt take advantage of the LAGG.
I think you'd be much better off posting in a forum that is more geared towards the OS that is under pfsense. Its running FreeBSD. It seems what you're asking isnt really anything specific to pfsense. In your op you mentioned access denied on that conf file. Lookup chmod.

And just to be thorough... After disabling proxy arp I changed the GW on the switch to 192.168.2.1. Pings restored again, as it should, but this time not utilizing proxy arp.
