I would second (third?) the Mass Effect trilogy, epic UNTIL the end, also I recommend the original Bioshock (the others are good too) and possibly KOTOR I and II if you don't mind a little old school.
I have neither of those two cards, but I think it's fair to deduct that the 980ti is better value, 980ti equals or beats the Fury X in most real life senarios and overclocks far better.
Don't know if this helps, but I have a GTX970 and an U2414H monitor, and I have had to reinstall the GPU driver in order to get a picture on screen using mini DP. I can't remember if you can force the DP via the Geforce control center.
I have been playing the Witcher 3 with max settings and hairworks ON at 1080p. My frames are in the fifties mostly (at least when I have cared to check). Before I OC'ed the card I was getting framerates in the high fifties with Hairworks OFF and in the fourties with Hairworks ON.
I have OC'ed...
Tall order, but with a bit of part hunting (the i5-4590 for $160 for example) it should be doable.
The below build would go lower than $700 if you could get the CPU at $160 or if you picked another Case/PSU combo than the Hadron Air. I chose to use the Hadron because I like it the best of the...
What IS you budget?
You should probably answer the sticky questions, but looking at your current system, I think you should just get that GPU and, depending on you current CPU cooler solution, a good CPU cooler so you can OC your i5 and call it the day.
I don't know how the integrated Iris graphics hold up for gaming, but other than that It might not be a bad idea, I'm unsure though if you would benefit enough from more logic cores to warrent the cost of a build. Regardless of you path you'll need a new copy of windows, so I would get that and...
Be careful that you don't over think the choice.
Both the Strix and MSI card are effectively silent at idle and when you watch movies. When you game both of them will spin up but using headphones I don't think you'll notice the difference between the two.
I have found this review that...
I cannot answer the first part of your question other than passive cooling (fanless) there is no silent way to cool your CPU. With respect to the GPU though I think you should stick with the ASUS Strix because it IS silent up to 60degrees (disregarding coilwhine).
You could consider the Haswell T CPUs (35w or 45w) as they will require less to cool and maybe the Superflower Leadex Gold or Platinum PSUs if you can get them (0rpm fan at less than 40% load possible). Also if possible at all forget about spinning discs if you don't need 3tb storage.
I have...
