fyi this came down the corporate pipe the other day, anyone who calls WD customer service about the 1 year instead of three year warranty mixup in printing the ad will receive an upgrade to three years...for free! havent tried it yet but thats the official line.
its an old picture. when we first started carrying them, they were 3 year. and as many people have told you, that has now changed. the picture didnt get updated. as was discussed in the thread about this hot deal, people found out that it was a one year warranty drive. mistakes can be made, and...
if you get it for $20 out the door, you are lucky. the "correct" way the stores are supposed to be ringing them up is $79.99 and you still qualify for rebates. the rebate purchase/submission period has been extended 60 days for the raincheck issue. i sold some today in this manner.
*edit*...
deal is now DEAD.
officemax corporate offices have informed all stores to not accept any more rainchecks. today was the last day to get a drive reserved. sorry to those who missed out on the deal!
items that can be rainchecked will have their rebate purchase date and filing date extended 60 days after the original date ranges per officemax policy.

starting on sunday officemax will be offering the western digital 80gb special edition hard drives for $19.99 after rebates. $99 - $30 IR - $30 manufacturer MIR - $20 officemax MIR = $19.99. these are being shipped to the stores vendor direct, so some stores might be OOS at the moment, but...
