Direct from 80/20, i think this is all scraps but for people who only need a little bit of metal it's cheap.
Is it ok to mix WD 10EADS with 10EACS drives on the perc5/i? I can't seem to find the EADS model any more and from what i've read there's problems with the newer EARS models that are everywhere. I've got 6x10EADS drives on my raid card right now and need to fill the last 2 slots, and a few...
This is exactly what i was planning on doing as well. Just got XP mode set up on my fresh W7 install yesterday. Is there any way to load the image i made with Acronis of my old xp setup into W7 VM or should i just invest in a copy of vmware?
What's an easy usb bootable os i can use for this?
Obviously i can't use the osx install on my laptop, ntfs filesystem on the bad disc makes it read only, and a couple of the files on it are over 2gb so i can't format the destination drive to fat32. Laptop has a tiny ssd to i can't use that...
I accidentally formatted a drive recently and used File Scavenger to get the data back, copying everything it found onto another drive plugged into a dock. After rebooting or hotplugging the drive back into the dock it makes my computer freeze up. On reboots windows xp just hangs after the...
Same here, ordered 3 1tb wd green drives. Drives in bubblewrap, in 3 white boxes, in a bigger box full of peanuts. I guess the egg finally got tired of the complaints.
I just started building a new fileserver and am curious what my best options are for OS and drive configuration. i got a cheap mobo/cpu/ram combo, and a Perc 5/i card i got off ebay. I haven't bought any new drives yet because i can't decide what to do with my old setup yet.
In my main rig...
I used to have this site bookmarked but now can't recall the name. It crawled newegg, zzf, mwave, etc and had dropdown menus for price per gb, sort by type, price, capacity, etc. Does anyone remember the url or if it's still around?
I have my pc connected to my 47" westinghouse as a second monitor in the bedroom and use a bluetooth keyboard from bed. I rarely ever watch actual television anymore, i've got tons of bbc/cbc documentaries i've grabbed off usenet over the years added to a randomized playlist that i click through...
In my opinion CGI is used too often and done poorly. The art of matte painting, in-camera effects, and stop-motion/miniatures is becoming a lost art. CGI too often sticks out like a sore thumb overlayed onto live action, it looks glossy, lacks weight, and they rarely get the lighting right. Just...
20-40gigs. it's almost not worth it for pirates right now. $100 for a 1tb drive, that can hold maybe 14 movies, plus the cost of hispeed internet. unless they're just watching then deleting, but if that's the case why not just rent the damn things.
