After 6 years, the original battery gave up the ghost.
Thankfully PowerMats are still available in my area, so once again replaced the battery. Hoping for another 6 years (or until I replace the card)
New battery on the top left, old (swollen) battery on the bottom right.
As an aside, I...
Due to some changes in the configuration of my server, the Areca 1880ix wasn't getting the same airflow as it was previously, and the CPU was hitting ~80C. Replacing the stock heatsink with an Enzotech, has dropped temps by over 30C.
Raid Card. Old style, before the single large heatsink...
Single Spicy 6274 or a Pair of 16 Core 62xx/63xx. If you know a good dealer, I'd be much obliged.
I'd post in BST, but apparently I spend too much time on IRC and not enough posting in the forums.
Bought a new mainboard which came with 6272s in order to do some trouble shooting.
Turns out one of the two CPUs and the Mainboard are dead, not sure if the mainboard killed the CPU or vice versa. Typically I can find the cause of the problem (MOSFET, Capacitor etc...) but haven't been able to...
Looking for a second opinion.
My dual socket H8DG6 server suddenly stopped, and will not power back on.
- The IPMI status LED does blink, but the DP3 (Power) LED does not power on.
- When attempting to power on the system, the PSU fan spins briefly then shuts off.
- IPMI status does not detect...
Just some info for anyone planning to do an online Raid & volume expansion.
Running 1880ix16 with ST5000DM000 (5900 RPM) drives.
Started with a healthy 3x5TB array and wanted to add a 4th drive. Throughout the expansion process it was running 2xVMs with low IO load.
First thing, when...
As experienced by gurrag and thekingarthur in the Areca Owner's Thread here, my battery was dying/dead. It always showed as "charging" never reaching "fully charged" status and appeared to be slightly bloated.
The factory battery is a 3.7v/1880mAh "Sanyo F1144" which is a of type 103450...
I'll try waiting, but am not hopeful, failing that a reboot.
I just think that BOINC/WCG wasn't meant for the types of systems currently being used.
Maybe Tear's new NUMA-Aware client will help (haven't tried it, since I'm running 7.2.0 currently and haven't had the time to diff the 7.0...
Running 4xInstances of CEP2 was maxing out a 6GBps SSD on a SAS2 connection...there is something wrong with that program at the design level (should be writing to memory and flushing to disk every checkpoint or xx seconds, vs the constant IO)
Running CEP2 from a ramdisk avoids being IO bound...
Thanks for the quick reply.
boing & boincmgr haven't been restarted in the past 4 days and both WU pictured above were downloaded and started without interruption.
I am under the same understanding as yourself, that CPU time should always be LESS than elapsed time. I can only assume that it...
The CPU Time reported by BOINC Mgr is not the same as the Elapsed Time.
I am curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, or understands the cause. The only thing I can think of is that the CPU Time is based off of the benchmark values for a single core, where the Elapsed Time is...
I've been using Linux since Mandrake 5.1 (bought retail CDs) in 1998
Switched to Gentoo in 2003 and have been using it as the bare metal install since then.
For Games, I haven't had a problem with any Steam-based games, but I tend to only play AAA-type titles.
For any windows apps...
Good point on testing if it has any impact on FAH.
Based on the description that it primarily affects x87 code, I'd guess that it won't have a significant impact on FAH (if at all)
Wonder what he's hoping to gain by not revealing wtf is being changed...
If it does speed up SuperPi and is...
