I haven't been following the sff scene for a while now. I've got two questions if anyone could help me out.
1. How do the latest sff fanless psu's perform? Are they safe to buy?
2. How does the black ridge perform? Is it worth upgrading to it from the nh-l9i? Most importantly is it as quiet or...
Anyone excited to see results from fanless Silverstone NJ450-SXL which just released?
Need a jonnyguru review to see how it will fare in a hot environment such as inside a a4sfx.
I'm glad dPunisher's build made it in. His greyscale build is what made me get the a4-sfx and go SFF.
Here's my a4-sfx, which is more powerful and quieter, sitting on top of my custom parvum matx watercooling case (also grey themed).
Turbulence starts at 1.3k rpm and mine is usually in the 1.4k-1.6k range while in load with my fan curve.
On the l9i there's much more clearance and the fan is very hard to hear till 1.8k rpm, even max 2.5k rpm is A LOT quieter.
It's true though I could set the c7 cu fan curve to always be...
The turbulence on c7cu with a9x14 was getting annoying, so I've gone back to the l9i till we can get windowed panels and raise the cpu clearance a bit.
I retested the l9i with more thermal paste and made sure the coverage was right. Forgot to take pics of the new thermal paste application, but...
Temps are really good. Gaming temps are 50-60c depending if I'm running 60 or 120fps with auto fans running at 1.3k-1.5k rpm, but I'm not pleased with the turbulence which is also audible in that rpm range.
Definitely have headroom to OC a bit, going to try go up to 4.6 sometime later.
These...

Test conditions: 25c ambient, NT-H1 and a9x14 used on both heatsinks, TDP set to 120w, fan speed set to max (2.5k), vcore 1.04, all core 4.3ghz, prime95 8k inplace FFTs for 10 mins inside dan a4sfx v2, no mods apart from delidded 8700k with CLU inside and hwmonitor was reset a few...
Try jumping the motherboard manually with a screw driver. If it still doesn't start then its definitely not a power sw issue.
I doubt it's a psu issue because the leds are on, but you could try testing the psu by connecting a fan to it with molex and jumping the 24pin with a paperclip to see...
