34" 21:9 UltraWide Displays (3440x1440) - LG UM95/UM65 & Dell U3415W

Beautiful monitor, but I need a new video card.

Do have one big problem though... the IPS glow (or backlight bleed?) in the bottom left is HORRIBLE:

Is everyone seeings something like this? I've never had an IPS before, but it seems excessively bad. It drowns out colors if there is anything dark displayed in the bottom left.

Mountains, mole hills and all that jazz^^^^^^

My display looks great with minimal BLB, but I do have the cold boot issue which nobody else seems to have. I will have to try this display with my Titan PC and see if it gives me the same problem as my 290x rig. Even if this is an RMA worthy issue, I will have a hard time living without this display!

Ill see if I can get a picture up today, but the bleed on mine is not bad at all. The problem I have now is my GTX 580 has no display port so I cannot run 3440x1440 @ 60Hz.

Same problem I have about displayport.

Here's another picture of the bleed/glow. If you notice it's a different hue in the left and right. Left, glow? Right, bleed?

What brightness setting have you got it on?

Interesting report on bleed that's really bad (another report that is).

I wonder if these panels are problematic and perhaps it's why the Dell version seems to have disappeared without a trace.

People this is NOT back light bleed. It is IPS glow and only there on certain blank black screeens. This affects the picture in ZERO ZERO ZERO way. Plus more of those pics are taken with shitty camera phones in the dark...you do the math on that.

Mine is literaly perfect with very minimal blb. Best monitor ive ever owned and ive had, perhaps hundreds

I'm sorry, but in my case this is absolutely not true.

The IPS glow in the bottom left corner is visible during medium - dark gaming/movies and washes out whatever colors are down there. For example, I fired up League of Legends and the glow was very visible in the "Fog of War" in the bottom left.

This is my first IPS, but I wouldn't imagine washed out colors, even over a small section of a $1,000+ monitor, are normal.

Well, whether it's called glow or bleed, it sure doesn't look too wonderful given the price of the monitor! :-(

I know that the cheap Korean panels skew the value proposition of a lot of monitors out there, but considering you can have a 100hz+ capable 1440p 16:9 display with very minimal IPS glow for ~$300 (QNIX QX2710), makes this seem like an issue to me. Link to that monitor thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1804901

Will wait to see what other people have to say.

That being said, I absolutely love the 21:9 form factor and the resolution, but the "glaring" issues may make it worth waiting on a different monitor.

Looks like Microcenter is starting to carry this monitor in Chicagoland. (LG)

Microcenter is showing it on the Webstore and several local stores besides Chicago. Just not in KC, which my wallet is giving thanks for.

I wanted to order it from microcenter but they cant give me a delivery date and shippings is high..are they trustworthy?

I've never had issues with them. I never ordered for delivery though as I have 2 locations near me. I have purchased items before and returned them with no hassle, no restocking fee, and full refund.

Hope it works for you. I did the same thing but they quote that it will "ship in the next few days" assuming it's even in stock.

Sort of disheartening since they INSTANTLY charge your credit card and then get vague about when anything will actually happen.

if it doesnt ship out by friday I'll cancel it. I have a great relationship with my credit card company. But I'm hoping it comes in atleast by Saturday..

Hard to form any opinion on the glow without seeing it in person as sometimes cameras can exaggerate the effect heavily.

But if it bothers you, return it and get a new one. I have never seen an IPS panel without any glow effect though, that's out of 5 various monitors I've owned from Dell. The distance from which you sit can also affect how noticeable it is. For movies this is why VA type panels are a lot better.

Does anyone have suggestions for mounts? All the ones I have looked at are for a max of 27in and I need one that can do a 27 and this 34. Although single arms would probably be best.

Mounts are more about the weight limitations than specific monitor sizes.

I have my 30" on a monoprice wall mount that technically was for a 23" monitor. As long as it can handle the weight and it's the correct VESA mount pattern it will work.

I got mine. Some backlight bleed on the top edge but I guess it's acceptable. Nice and bright. Nice display overall. It's not 4k but it will do in the meantime until the cheap, big 4k displays start coming out.

OK, so what kind of cable do I need to use with the the USB 3.0 hub on it? Also, is it worth installing any of the software that comes on the discs (other the the display driver)?

Also, how do I get 2.33 YouTube trailers to show on the whole screen instead of letterboxed.

Interesting review.
You sound only half thrilled. Am I reading you correctly?

I see. But still lot better then a 1080p 32 inch. So the question is should i go with the 32inch 1440p or get the 34 or wait for a 4k 32 in that price range you think next year bout this time we will start seeing 4k good monitors at a good price?

I am almost bout to just buy the 32 1440p monitor
I like the idea of the Zero flicker for eay comfort or maybe thats just a gimick? Its also 300 dollars cheaper then the 34 inch. But i kinda like the idea of the 34 inch lot of pixels. My main consern is size
Becuase i feel like the 27 1440p is to small compared to my brothers 30 inch i love a big monitor

Yeah what games are you running 3 4k monitors on? You cant run 1 4k monitor in a demanding game with good settings

I can confirm that the pictures I took do not exaggerate the effect. What I see in person is the same as those crappy camera phone shots.
