Final Fantasy XIV Official Release Thread

^ It doesn't, I'll have my char logged in all day, and play every hour so.

A burned out of grinding.

So basically people staying logged in because they couldn't get logged in are just causing the log in problems for everyone else who will then do the same. Awesome.

I took a whole weekend off and was able to play EA on MONDAY for a few hours. THATS IT. Damn straight Im staying logged in lol...

Shit, half the [H] FC has been logged in for days...

The "fix" causes the problem, it just hurts the community overall.

No, we are not causing the login problems. SE is causing the login problems.

Bad idea. Better idea is to Google NoAutoRebootWithLoggedOnUsers.

Oh the hipocrisy.

When the fuck did I ever say anything to anyone about staying logged in? Maybe you should look up the definition of hypocrisy...

The [H] community looked pretty good on Leviathan last night thanks to us all staying logged in.

EDIT: If you guys can't get in, it will make your life a lot easier if you A) slam on the Numpad 0 Key or B) attach a controller and try to connect that way. Coffaholic also posted some radom voodoo magic way to login that he swears up and down works. Dont get aggravated with those who are doing what it takes to actually play the game they paid for. Blame the people causing it.

hmmmm was just going to say. I still have not received my CE code.

You eastern time?

For a game of this magnitude how did they not anticipate the servers would be filled to the max. For example if you print out 10 million game keys wouldn't you anticipate at most 10 million will log in at launch at any given time?

They don't. A week after launch when you've got 500K max logged in at any one time, you'd have 95% of your servers collecting dust and the bill for those servers would be coming in the mail.

Yup. You oversubscribe your servers, and set up queues. If you have 10 million US subscribers, and only 3 million are likely to be on at a time, why would you pay for 10 million subscriber's worth of hardware, maintenance, and software?

QFT

It amazes me that so few people understand this and why log in problems are so bad the first few days of MMORPGs. Why no one should ever take time off on release day. Instead wait a week or two to take the time off.

It would be nice though if SE just came out and explain that in the short term - a few days - it'll suck but it'll make the server population stable and playable for the long term - the next decade.

Yea...but how hard is it to add a queue? Thats all most people are asking for. You want to only allow 100k people on? COOL! At least throw a working queue system in there so I dont have to spam a button for 2 hours.

That would fix most of the problems.

this, this so much
last night as soon as i complained i actually got put into a 174 people queue :p

Lawl, what the ass-bang, I just tried to enter my code and it shot me with a maintenance is in progress screen. Damn it.

i wonder how many more people are playing today.. i would think most people were already in with EA.

That's what my general thought process was, if anyone really wanted to play this, they would have already been playing the game in EA.

Did you have to enter it thru the client, because i put my new serial num in and it doesnt recognize it.

i thought they lifted login limitations today anyways

I read on the last page that they shut down a bunch of servers as far as creation goes but they would start lifting login restrictions soon.

A little good news but damn...certain servers filled up damn near ASAP...

i just want to play this damn game with my wife :/

edit: so i gather i should stop using logmein to do remote connections to constantly see if levi is up for character creation huh....

Anyone here understand Japanese and want to translate the video?

"Producer Moved To Tears Over Launch Of Reborn Final Fantasy XIV"

During the Tokyo launch event for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, game producer Naoki Yoshida fought (and lost) a constant battle against tears as he thanked fans for their patience, apologized for server issues and looked back on three years of re-developing a failed game

At least that's what the folks at Dualshockers are saying he's talking about. I don't speak Japanese, but whatever the man is saying it's got him all choked up. It's been a long, strange trip for Mr. Yoshida, tasked not only with renovating a shoddy product, but restoring the honor lost by the franchise with the original release of Final Fantasy XIV.

If you go into the square enix account management site, then log in, and go to services at the very bottom left, it'll bring you to a "mog" page where it'll tell you exactly what kind of account you have, and you'll be able to enter your code there.

I like what that one Top Comment said, roughly translated to: "Fuck you, and your friends.".

;)

I think it was bad wording on their part. I checked my order on digital river and it showed a new key for CE. Go to the mog station page and link the new code with your service account. It will NOT link by itself.

I'm really tempted to give this game a try. Both my coworkers are hounding me to join them, haha.

Has anyone tried it on the ps3? I'm tempted to get both PC and ps3 version as both give me 30 days each of play time (60 total). The wife sometimes gets on my case if I'm locked away in my mancave for too long, so the ps3 version will come in handy as i can play it on the living room couch :D

As far as adding the game account key...for those of you that dont want to screw it up...look at this...

Thank you very much for playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Currently, an extremely high number of players are enjoying the game. Should the number of players continue to increase at the current pace, there is the possibility that our expectations and server capacity will be greatly surpassed. Therefore, in order to maintain a stable gameplay environment, we are implementing login and character creation restrictions.
In order to be able to welcome a drastically greater number of players, we are starting as early as this week with preparations to increase our facilities, to be ready by early next week. Until that time, we will be continuing to implement these restrictions as required, and we ask for your understanding and patience.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

This game is awesome. I have no idea how I'm level 14 already. I just really want my mount.

Thanks for the info, gotta wait till i get home since i dont carry my token around with me :)

Either do I, funny story though...I noticed the other day that my coworker keeps his WoW security token on his key ring. Of course I had to make fun of him for being such a nerd. In any case I thought it was odd he'd be carrying around that giant token on a key ring lol..

If this was 13 century japan, Yoshi would be commiting harakiri

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seppuku

its a massive failure when people purchase a product and can't use it

30% won't sub after the first month...and a year from now, most of you won't even be playingthis game...servers will be consolidated and a niche game will be created

unfucking believeble failure on launch...unfucking real

Yep, the man should kill him self for making a product people want. Oh, and since people really want it, they're all going to instantly stop wanting it because they had to wait 2 days before logging in. Yep, that's totally not a hyperbole at all.

While I agree with the "unbelievable" launch, I don't think Yoshi would be the one committing seppuku. Yoshi is the "face" for the game, and believes in his product. I imagine he's put in hundreds of hours of overtime trying to get everything working right. I know it's not the Japanese way, but I wish someone over there would point a finger so the fans could know where the hangup is. Maybe I'm wrong, and it is Yoshi's team that's failing. Somehow, I doubt it.

The launch was pretty bad, I dont think the game is a total failure though. Its actually pretty unbelievably awesome once you're actually in.

im sorry, but this game is everything I wanted and more. They hit it out of the park with its game mechanics and so forth. The servers are getting slammed, I know im not happy, and I'm sure as hell that they aren't happy either. But I see amazing potential for this game. It very well might be my new favorite MMO of all time. Topping the original Star wars galaxies is a big deal to me.

server issues aside ( by next week should be alleviated completely )

this game is crazy dope. SO FAR. it is an mmo so we will see how the end game content is. and hopefull soon :D

lvl 37 black mage and still going strong. unfortunately its back to work so until friday i wont make too much more progress. while i wait for everybody to hit 50 ill likely level gathering/crafting and another class to 50 ( prolly dragoon )

anybody who has a beef with the games difficulty so far, just hit 35 and do the temple of qarn. several instant death mechanics.. took us 45 min to kill the first boss :0
