[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

I have a question for the SG05 experts: if I were to use a regular ATX PSU completely inside the case, how tall a CPU cooler would I be able to fit?

Less than 60mm, presuming you use at least one of the original top screw holes to mount your PSU.

Getting an SG06 in the mail soon! I've giddily bought around 120% as many things as can fit into it. We shall see what happens!

Hi Gentlemen, I am in a search for an alternative air cooler for a reference nvidia gtx 660ti which fits the silverstone sg 05. There is 40mm from the card to the side of the case. I searched the ebay for any used gtx 660ti or gtx 670 cooler, but didn't find anything. Searched the net for coolers but no one fits to this case and card an is powerfull enough. So if you know about such a cooler please let me know.

Hi, thank you for your answer. I already checked the arctic coolers but all of them has 51-53 mm height, and in the sugo 05 I have only 40mm. Did somebody used one of the arctic coolers in this case? With what modification?

I wanted to share my SG05 too XD

I put my DAC inside, and I keep my case open air. no cover XD

That's like ordering a fine steak at a restaurant and dumping Heinz ketchup all over it. It's tasteless and looks awful. The SG05 isn't intended to be the be-all case for everything, when you plan a build certain compromises are necessary, otherwise you end up looking like that.

That's a heckuva build, I must say.

So I decided to put the rad n noctua inside the case after reading janas19 comment :p

All I need is to make a custom front panel now somehow...

So what's that on the right in the front? Some audio thingie? Is it worth the mess? :D
Looks quite tight in there, especially now that you have tortured the rad in there. Not to mention any cable management.

It's an DAC. It's very tight but my cpu temps are around 33c idle and gpu 35c idle. Can't complain :D

If you don't mind modding the front panel, all you'd have to do is cut two holes for the jacks and one for the knob. The panel will snap right in, but you might lose a couple buttons.

Looks good.

The power button it that other cable next to the dac coming out.

I am going to wire it to the rear of the case.

Have you cut already?

I was just going to suggest, if you flip the face plate around 180°, I believe it will still attach and you can save the front buttons as well. I didn't reply with this thought sooner :(

Hi, I'm planning a build with the SG05 and I want to use an H80i, oriented vertically so that the slim drive and the 2.5" bay will be removed, but leaving space for a long graphics card. Where is the best place to put the SSD in such a configuration, since the 2.5" is removed? I have seen several different configurations in this forum (see below), and I want one that requires minimal modding but is somewhat stable.

If you have the H80i upwards, then there's plenty of space beside it (right side as looking at front panel) to stick an SSD. Can use velcro if you don't want to mod, otherwise drill a few holes in an expansion bracket and hang it from the screws that used to hold the 3.5" drive cage.

Mounted my SSD with a PCI slot bracket cover like this:

Put the SSD up against the bracket and screwed one of the holes in that matched one of the vent slots on the bracket. Then I bent the end of the slot around the SSD to cradle it as well. The "lip" of the bracket that normally screws into the PCI slot's screw hole, is screwed into one of the holes the optical drive bracket is supposed to screw into.

Synomenon, does the bracket cover that comes with the SG05 work?

Also, is it dangerous to leave SSDs with basically no airflow? I know that they run a lot cooler than a normal hard drive, but I'm still worried about the long-term effects of that.

The bracket covers that come with the SG05 won't work unless you put a hole in them that will let you secure the SSD with at least one screw. With the vented slot covers, I just used one of the vent openings to screw into and secure the SSD.

Synomenon: whats that cooler on that Asrock board? Is it efficient and quiet?

I don't remember exactly which one , but it's either a Thermaltake Slim X3 or a Xigmatek Praeton LD 964.

It's got no moving parts, and electrically SSDs hardly do any 'work'. Pretty sure the max operating temperature is over 60C.

What is the best 120mm radiator wc system without excessively long tubing for the sg05?

I have been wondering this myself, the Cooler Master Eisberg (pump, res and block all in one 66m height) looks good and is expandable, though I wonder if it would be sufficient to cool a GPU too? I am looking more for a quiet system with decent temps than to overclock.

The max width in my sg05 from the pcb of the vcard to the side of the case is 47mm. Hope this helps

Just order mine SG05 with gold 450w psu, and Astek combo gpu & cpu cooling for GTX 660ti and 3570k. It should arrived here tomorrow, will post pix after done build. Can't wait!

Does anyone know the maximum length and width GPU the SG05 can accept?

I have a work in progress using an Asus GTX 670 DC2 that BARELY fits the SG05; it is snug against the front panel, absolutely no card longer than this would work. According to the newegg product page, that card is 10.7" long, if that helps any. If needed, PM me and I can get my own measurement.

It's possible that Asus/Newegg reports the length of the GTX670-DC2 including the expansion bracket, which sits outside the case. I say this because the inside of the SG05 is more like 10.31" (262mm)

Hi guys, I was wondering, if the new Phantom GTX 760 would fit in. It's 9.44 inches long, which should be fine, but it is almost 2 inches wide (1.89). That makes it almost triple-slot. Is there a space for it?

I have a Phantom 560ti and it fits with a few mm to spare, I was also thinking of upgrading it to the Phantom 760 but my H60 radiator is a bit in the way (lengthways). If you buy it, let us know :)

If you want to fit an H6O lengthways then try the Asus DirectCu GTX760. The Asus site claims it's 8.4", which would mean it'll fit with the rad in the way.

I have one arriving on Monday, so i'll report back with my results.

The new DirectCu cards are 16mm taller than normal graphic cards (127mm v 111mm). Might interfere with optical bay if you have one.

I didn't know that but if it doesn't fit i'll DSR it and wait it out for the DirectCu Mini. :)
