Battlefield 4 Game Play Video Is Up!

The ridiculous yellow triangle above your head that is broadcasted to the whole fucking server after someone spams Q... Ever wonder how the jet that's out of site sniped you on Alborz mountain or any other giant map while you're camped in a spot thinking there's no possible way for him to see you...

This is the problem with the game, it is not competitive and in many ways much more casual than any COD game. Do we really need BF4?

I remember spamming the Q button in BF2 as the commander, who needs a UAV when you can magically detect anyone on the map by just clicking the map. People would complain about the noise, but I reminded them that guess what, you can see where everyone is.

I watched the video that doesn't look like an actual person playing the game seems to be the computer playing itself I could be wrong thought. Game looks amazing though. Hopefully a playable demo will be made available to the public for us to evaluate for ourselves.

It's just some noob playing with a controller. They aren't even competent enough to get some one who's comfortable at playing FPS with a controller.

It was the same way when they demoed BF3, the person demoing it couldn't shoot worth a shit on the controller and it looked like he had some kind of god mode on with how many times he was being hit. The part after you drag your buddy out of the parking lot, when he gets shot was the worse. With a k+m I would of head shot every single one of those AI, but the person running the BF3 demo kept shooting to low or out right missing and getting hit till he got real bloody (where normally you would drop in game). But that BF4 demo did not impress me, it looks the same as BF3, well a little better animated expressions.

I watched it again the on-screen prompts are for keyboard controls (like reloading and opening doors). It still doesn't look like an actual person playing to me the movement doesn't seem natural.

.....I can't tell if you guys are trolling or not (I seriously hope so), but... you are aware that this is impossible for people not living in the US/Western Europe, right?

Feel free to move to a first world country so you can have first world problems like sub 100ms pings. Sorry, but crippling hit detection in a FPS so people in Buttfuckistan can compete with 1000ms pings is ridiculous.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :D

What controller has an "E" button?

First confirmation of withheld content....uhhhh I mean DLC!

wow...looks just like BF3

too much lens glare, too much water on the camera, same stupid UI, same muted blue and orange for advertising..pass

That "Drone Strike Expansion Pack" -- god help us if it turns out to have any functional similarity to COD killstreak predator strike bullshit.

That is a terrifying thought.

Not that I planned on buying this, anyway...

Seems like you expected something different from a game running on the same engine as BF3.

I see we are going to have run-away comments until this game is released.

How does the art direction have anything to do with the engine? All could be easily turned off, toned down or made optional.

There are just too many games available now a days. People can't appreciate them for what they are anymore and what they DO actually offer.

Too many games = Too many complaints

In a two year cycle, you're expecting DICE to change the art direction?

Let's take CryEngine 2 and 3. Warhead looks like Crysis 1. Crysis 2 looks like Crysis 3.
Crysis 2 and 3 doesn't look like Crysis 1 and Warhead because they are on different engines.
Frostbite 1 doesn't look like Frostbite 2. But Frostbite 2 will continue to look like Frostbite 2.

Yes, the engine being used is the main reason why it looks the way it does.
It was created to do what you're complaining about. They didn't make the engine to not use what they envisioned it do.

Serious logic fail there, simply because an engine is designed to exhibit certain special effects does not mean that it has to be turned on or shoved in your face every 5 seconds, which is what DICE did in BF3 and intend to do with BF4, especially when they are god damn fucking annoying and unrealistic to boot.

The problem isn't the engine, its DICE overblown mentality that they are artists and so whatever they decide is a matter of artistic direction no matter how fucking retarded it is. Otherwise they wouldn't have threatened to ban players using mods to get rid of their shitty color gradings and filters in BF3.

Server-side hit detection is unplayable if you have over 150 ping, there's a reason most games do client-side now.

Uh, like what? Hit detection / lag compensation is done server side in very nearly everything. 150 ping is gross but shouldn't be anywhere near unplayable if it's properly compensated for.

Trusting the client is bad news, the server should always be the end all dictator. BF3's security holes are comically absurd.

I don't seem to remember BF2 having this many h4x0rs...maybe it wasn't as well publicized but i never ever jumped into a game with the obvious hacking and/or even suspecting anyone of being the discrete hacker.

i'm guessing the client side architecture was done with consoles in mind.
What is the whole structure for the console versions of BF3 anyway...are there servers at all or does someone just host a game from their playstation and everyone connects?

Yes, there are official (dedicated) EA servers and since the 'rent-a-server' patch anyone can rent a server for 30 days.

How is it logic fail?

They chose to make the game that way, regardless of an on or off switch.
One DICE dev stated the sun is their signature mark to visually distinguish the game from other shooters.
The art direction you see is purposeful.

If I'm not interested in a game, I don't comment on it.
There are many threads here I chose not to post in because I can careless about the game.
Other's need to try that.

You didn't need to hack in BF2 because prone-hopping (or whatever it's called) was legal ;)

Dolphin diving! Aaaaahhhh don't remind me.

Client side hit detection = fail. I got used to it in BF3 but playing other shooters only painfully reminds me how much better BF3 could have been. I still enjoy BF3, but oh it could have been 'the' shooter to end all shooters.

I can only hope they go back to server side in BF4 but I fear it's only hoping for hope's sake.

I can see why you would think that, would make your job as an apologist oh so much easier :p

I really like BF games. Didn't buy 3 for obvious reaons (the bs being discussed in this thread)

My bet is 4 will follow in the same steps. Guess i'll be done with the franchise? = /

It's too bad Dice doesn't try to make a good game. If they did, i'd buy it.

EA owns DICE, so I doubt we'll ever see anything like the original Battlefield games come out of them again.

I'm really curious how long the CoD and BF franchises can be milked.

They need to crash so that we can get some other games by devs who actually try to make a good game.

Until then, i guess i'll just keep going to quake live for my fps fix. Guess i could install BF2 again, do people still play that?

2 years worth of work, most likely several hours of single player, plus a large number of new multiplayer maps, functions, etc. Sounds worth $60 to me. But, I need to see the MP. Which is what I meant earlier about no gameplay footage yet. SP, meh. BF3's was ok. The co-op missions were actually a lot of fun, the sniper one particularly. Hopefully they add more of those.

who wants to bet EA will have a $15 bazaar/metro/karkand map pack for bf4 so you can pay $75 to play bf3.

I'll have to see what kind of maps bf4 gets before I buy it, I really miss maps like bf2's mashtuur city. I want some well done urban maps. not this washed out lens filter karkand shit.

also, you can usually get a activation code on ebay for $20 a few weeks after release, theres no way in hell I'll pay close to $60

Oh no doubt. EA got reeeeeal jealous of Activition when they saw they were doing that.

If they pull it off, someone is getting a sweet bonus and pat on the back.

im going to sound like an EA troll for saying this but im not.

one reason they could of wanted to enforce bans for correcting the blue tint is that the injector or what ever it was could of potentially altered the color in such a way that it makes players stand out much more than intended giving those players an advantage much in the same way and altering textures to make someone pink while not as effective as the straight up texture replacer it was a potential exploit/hack if used by someone less than honest.

ive dealt with so many hackers and glitches and texture replacing players in BF1942/BFV/BF2 that i honestly dont mind them preventing injectors on those basis.

but i DO NOT like them not having an option to remove the blue tint or toggle the supernova sun or tone it down with a slider to personal preference.

I can understand your point, but the game looks 100* better when you see those video's and screenshots of the difference

Edit: The sun also really detracts from gameplay. Doubly so since it usually benefits one team more then the other on objective games like Rush/CTF
