Post Your RocketFish pics/mods

^^^You have to go to the store to get them on clearance. It's becoming hit or miss, but it's definitely worth a look if you've got a BB nearby.

Many Best Buys have them on clearance, the actual clearance price is ~70USD but many are dropping below that. The website still says 120USD, but just drop into your locale Best Buy and ask them to look up the SKU.

OK thanks guys. I figured it was something like that or there might have been a rebate involved.

I am considering another, just b/c it is such a good deal. No need for a 3rd empty case though. :D

I just checked my local bestbuy and they sell rocketfish stuff but not the case. Damn i want one so badly.

I posted this in the "RF Case Wiring" thread, but figured I'd post here as well as I'm more than happy to show those what I did with 1 of the 5 RF cases I bought for $47 a piece at a local BB.

"Here is the RF case I bought for my G-unit last month. Last couple weeks I re-wired the case, put in a side window, and added some UV goodness.

1. The huge box

2. Her Matx system installed w/nasty wire job

Overkill for her Matx? Hell yeah. However it will undergo an upgrade in the next couple of months and when that happens expect alot of changes for this huge case.

All in all this was a very quick mod just to make her happy. Pink UV, window, yada yada...until the new PC parts come! I can't wait! I love this case, and I'm an owner of a CM830.

Nate"

I used a dremel, with the reinforced cutting discs. If you are a first time modder it is too simple, I wouldn't hesitate in giving it a try.

This huge case dwarfs any motherboard. It's so funny to see people put m-ATX ones inside of it.

Exactly, I am not using a m-ATX but my motherboard still makes it look small. It almost makes me want to go dual socket, but I have no reason to use that much power currently, maybe in a couple of years once I am farther along in college.

Finished installing a new side window on my Lian-Li/Rocketfish. Thought I'd repost these pics in this thread for you guys. I'm happy with the way it turned out. FrozenCPU can kiss my butt, $70 for a side window, paleeze. :)

hehe, anyone ever considered lettering his "lilifish" ? Just came to my mind when reading this thread :D

I use the case for my fileserver. No real mods, just an awesome case stuffed with crap.

When I first got it. My helper was checking things out...

He told me he approved :D

So I dropped the parts in. I've added a 6th drive since this pic was taken.

I use the paper as forced air ducting for the drives.

Looks great! Never thought to remove the door.

Anyone else find this to be a fairly LOUD case with the stock fans?

I am about to replace mine. Once I figure out which fans will be quieter.

He's a boston terrier mix. We don't know the other half of the mix; even after genetic testing it's still unclear haha. He's a hoot though, very spunky and grouchy, but in a funny way.

Alrighty. Did most of the work to my case that I wanted to do, moved all of my components and did most of my wiring. Initially I had wanted to do the shelf, but due to the lack of the proper items and the fact that I ended up liking the way the bottom of the case looked, I won't be doing that. forgive me for the rough edges on a few areas. I still have a little wiring to do in the back of the case, and a little rearranging of the lights, but for the most part it's done and I'm pretty happy with it.

Before (a mess, gone through several upgrades, etc):

Whatchoo think? Still want to do a few things to it, finish the wiring, and move that one light.
(sorry for the long post!)

Drill bit? Are you referring to his Dremel?
The case siding I have seen but never actually looked at the name or what it is called. I am sure you can find it in any hardware store.

U channel? auto stores have it, or look online. I bought mine at from a rc/ model airplane website for a lot cheaper than mnpctech

The rubber stuff is door trim, found at Walmart or most auto-parts stores. The bit on the dremel is called a reinforced cutting wheel. Beware, they go away pretty quickly so for any long cuts you'll want a hi-TPI jigsaw bit.
Dual-loop, sludgert?
Yes sir. :)

It's actually a Hiper, 580 watt. Great PSU, no complains. I love the design of the modular connectors.

Ahhh Hiper, not bad price either. From what I found that supply is going between 60-80$. I've read some reviews on the Hiper line of PSU's and I've heard mixed feelings. I stuck with a brand name PSU and took the plunge...but oy vey did it hit the wallet. Kinda steep, but you get what you pay for I guess...or should I say I hope ;)

ABS/Tagan is not always reiable. Check out the various reviews at [H], JonnyGuru, and elsewhere -- you may be seriously considering a return/exchange before long, IndyGSX.

Has anyone replaced the feet on their Rocket-Li case? If so, what did you use and what size is the hole in the floor of the case for the feet to fit into?

I did, though I replaced them with swivel feet (cheap things from Home Depot).. had to drill.

The hole is about 1cm in diameter (+/- 0.01mm).

here is mine

did the top holes with the help of a grinder/cutting wheel and dremel.

watercooling parts storm/mcw30/HE120.3/DDbayres/D5vario.

now gotta do some wire management after my tagan 1.1kw comes back from rma, and she'll be finished, sorry for crappy phone pics
