I'll play. These are just my main rig CPUs. Between BOINC, PCs for other rooms and uses, home servers, and laptops on the side, there are easily 30-40 more. The first two are from the family computer when I was but a wee laddie and "cheap" computers were still quite expensive:

AMD Phenom II X4 940BE @3.6hz, i used this baby FOREVER.
AMD Ryzen 1700
AMD Ryzen 3900X

While most of my own machines have been AMD machines, i remember building a lot of Intel Q6600 and early core i5 systems for friends.
Most of my laptops have been Intel machines, my current laptop is an Intel 8750H.

7 year Necro-wow

My thoughts too, but heh, I guess mine could use an update. I last posted in 2009...

I was just thinking about mine, and found it difficult to remember, but here it goes from my best recollection:

It all starts when I was allowed to use my parents old XT computer for educational games at age 8...

1988: 8088 (I forget the clock rate, probably 4Mhz)
1991: 286 8Mhz (OC:ed to 12MHz, This was both my my first own computer and the first one I took apart and put back together again at age 12, it scared the crap out of my parents)
1994: 486sx 25mhz (OC:ed to 50Mhz, This was my first - from scratch - PC build, For OC all that was needed was the addition of an HSF which it did not have stock)
1995: Pentium 90Mhz (OC:ed to 120Mhz)
1997: Pentium MMX 200mhz (would not OC at all)
2000: AMD Duron 600mhz (OC:ed to 800Mhz)
2001: AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz (Would not OC at all, this thing ran HOT)
2001: AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz
2001: AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz (same CPU as above after crushing the 1.4 (and it's replacement, my second 1.4) with an asetek vapochill
2001: AMD Duron 600mhz (OC:ed to 800mhz) After I destroyed the 1.2 with the vapochill and got fed up and sold it)
2002: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (No OC. I had gotten tired of loud fans, and it was fast enough)
2004: AMD Athlon64 3000+ (socket 754) (OC:ed from 2Ghz to 2.4Ghz)
2009: Intel Core i7-920 (Was able to hit 3.8ghz stable air cooled with built in cooler in Shuttle SX58H7, but it was LOUD, so I'm running stock until I need more speed.)

So, here is the 2020 update.

I'm going to drop the 8088, as it was my parents, not mine, and fix some errors in my recollection last time I posted.

1995: Pentium 90Mhz (would not OC at all)
1997: Pentium 150Mhz (pre-MMX) (OC:ed to 200Mhz)
2000: AMD Duron 600mhz (OC:ed to 950Mhz)
2001: AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz (Would not OC at all, this thing ran HOT)
2001: AMD Athlon 1.4Ghz
2001: AMD Athlon 1.2Ghz (same CPU as above after crushing the 1.4 (and it's replacement, my second 1.4) with an Asetek Vapochill
2001: AMD Duron 600mhz (OC:ed to 950mhz) After I destroyed the 1.2 with the vapochill and got fed up and sold it. I lost three expensive - for the time - CPU's to that thing)
2002: AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (No OC. I had gotten tired of loud fans, and it was fast enough)
2004: AMD Athlon64 3000+ (socket 754) (OC:ed from 2Ghz to 2.4Ghz)
2009: Intel Core i7-920 (Was able to hit 3.8ghz stable air cooled with built in cooler in Shuttle SFF SX58H7, but it was LOUD, so I ran it at stock speeds.)
2011: AMD Phenom II 1090T (Overclocked to 4Ghz if memeory serves) (decided to get rid of the small form factor, and go full case. This was my "wait for bulldozer" CPU in a 990FX motherboard I bought to be ready)
2011: Intel Core i7-3930k (Sandy-E 6C/12T, overclocked to 4.8Ghz) (Bulldozer launched and it sucked. I was disappointed and bought a Sandy-E
2019: AMD Threadripper 3960x. It's been down for a while due to a bad Gigabyte motherboard, and I am rebuilding it as we speak. No OC. It just isn't necessary.

Note, these are for my main desktop only. Servers, HTPC's, routers, other PC's I've built, I have not included.

I cant. I posted in this thread years and years ago. I copy/pasted and added the most current ones since I remember those.

I barely remember what GPUs I've had over the last 25 (?) years, less the CPUs I've had over the last 30. I know I started with a Zilog Z80 in a C128 and a 386DX was my first x86 processor. Then, I've had a chip from probably every gen architecture from both Intel in AMD (and Cyrix).

I swap out two or three times a year to play with different things. No way I would even remember what I had.

First computer I used - Intel 8088
Computer I spent the most time with - Intel Pentium III 933Mhz Coppermine
First computer I built for myself - Intel Pentium 4 2.53Ghz Northwood (533 FSB)
Last computer I built for myself - AMD Ryzen 9 5950x

From what I can remember... I am sure I am leaving something out...

Cyrix 66Mhz
Pentium 133Mhz
Pentium II 350Mhz
Pentium III 550Mhz (OC'ed to 750Mhz via Dip Switches)
Athlon XP 1.2Ghz (forget the model number)

I must be the slowest upgrader in history.... 6 primary computers dating back to 1998.
Intel PII 450MHz
Intel Pentium 4 2.4Ghz
Athlon64 3200+
Intel Core Q6600
Intel i7 4770k
Ryzen 9 4900HS

I think this is accurate for desktop processors. There were a few laptops in there I can't recall.

486 DX2 33MHz
Pentium 90MHz
Pentium 150MHz
Pentium II 333MHz
Athlon 750 Slot A
Athlon XP 1700+
AMD Phenom II x6 1055T
Core i7 6700k

Prebuilts:

486 DX2
Pentium MMX 133Mhz (I think)

My builds:

PIII 800 Mhz
PIV 2.86Mhz
E6600 @ 3.2
i7 2600K

I've built a couple PC's for my dad too, but I can't remember what components I used.
Well, since we're doing this again, I've had the following since the 2600k:

i7 6700k
i7 9700k
Ryzen 9 3900X

It's nice to think about the past. I think about some builds that lasted for an eternity, while others were fleeting, at best. Most dates are correct, some are guesses. These are just for my home PC's, since my work PC's have either been my home PC hand-me-downs, or something given to me by my department.

All of these were my own builds, with the exception of the first miserable PC (Packard Bell).

1991 - Am 80286 12 MHz CPU in my Packard Bell Legend IV. That was a most horrid computer, where almost everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. Still, I was able to rig it to make it work with Ultima VI.
1992 - Am 80386 SX-25. I got this just so I could play Ultima VII.
1993 - Cx 486 DLC-33. Felt more like a crippled 486 SX 25, but at least it worked well enough for X-Wing.
1994 - Am 486 DX-40. This was my first "real" powerful CPU. I won't lie about the fact that I got it just to be able to play Doom decently.
1994 - Cx 486 DX2-66. I had ordered an AMD 486 DX2-66, but the crooked merchant sent me a Cyrix CPU instead.
1995 - Intel Pentium 90. Now this was a huge jump in power, and I was certainly able to play Quake at full blast. It was still awfully slow for System Shock at 640 x 480, though.
1997 - Intel Pentium 133. Nice little jump, but I ended up giving it to my sister and her husband.
1998 - Intel Pentium Pro 150, clocked to 180 MHz. Very powerful system, and I think I'm one of the few folks who ever used Burst EDO RAM.
1999 - AMD K6/2 300 - Nice little CPU for playing Heretic 2 and Quake 2.
1999 - AMD K6/3 450 - Sold the K6/2 300 to a friend, plugged this one right in. I remember using this computer for my doctoral dissertation presentation, since the department's laptop stank. Half Life / Team Fortress Classic ran very well.
2000 - Intel Pentium III 450 - All SCSI system, wonderfully fast
2000 - AMD Athlon 650 - Sold the Pentium III system to an old friend still working on her dissertation. Big time increase in sheer power, and playing Half Life / Team Fortress Classic was mind-blowing at the time
2001 - AMD Athlon 1200 (Thunderbird) - I loved this CPU. It was very fast, but alas, I crushed the core. The AMD 760 chipset on my motherboard wasn't quite as fast as the others, but it was rock solid reliable.
2001 - AMD Athlon XP 1700 - Nice boost in performance.
2002 - AMD Athlon XP 2500 - Barton CPU, another nice boost in performance, but needed to replace the RAM, since my old PC2100 wasn't cutting it.
2003 - AMD Athlon XP-M 2400, clocked to 3200+ speeds. Nice having unlocked multipliers.
2004 - AMD Athlon 64 3000 (Socket 754) - Great CPU, terrible memory controller, since trying to use two double sided sticks of RAM meant a no-go on a boot. Thankfully, Crucial did have single sided RAM available
2006 - AMD Opteron 146 (Socket 939) - Even better, but multiple cores were starting to come into play...
2007 - AMD Opteron 170 (Socket 939) - swapped out the 146 from above seamlessly, traded it to a friend
2009 - AMD Athlon X2-5000 - Temporary use of a CPU since my Socket 770 board was ready, but my Phenom hadn't arrived
2010 - AMD Phenom II 720 - tri core Phenom, I was able to unlock the fourth core. Unfortunately, this system ended up going to my then-wife (now happily my ex-wfie)
2011 - AMD FX-4100 - I know a lot of people ragged on this CPU, but it served me very well for 9+ years, running up to 4.4 GHz. This CPU is still here on my work PC, and doing great, but I suspect it's going to be replaced soon
2018 - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X - current CPU in my home build. I don't forsee upgrading for quite a while
