Will my old PSU be enough for this build?

Hello,

I finally have the components for my new build, the only exception being the PSU. I was really hoping to use my old one but I'm a bit worried it might not have enough juice. I've also linked a new one that I'm considering. All help is appreciated.

1. Will the old PSU be enough?
2. Will the new PSU be enough?

550w is not going to be enough for any system with a reasonably powerful CPU and GPU. If you were using the integrated video on the CPU then the 550w would be fine.

The 750w will probably be okay. My only concern would be that Ampere-based cards can have some nasty power spikes. I'm not sure which PSU you are planning to use, since the link at the bottom of your post shows a different PSU than the PSU in your parts list. I probably wouldn't go with a Bronze model (as shown in your link at the bottom) as those tend to be lower-end units with cost-cutting compromises. The Gold model in your parts list would be a better bet. If it were me I'd probably try to find a decent 850w PSU.

This Super-Flower 850w Platinum is the same price ($120) with the current coupon. Super Flower a great PSU company that was the OEM company for some of EVGA's best PSUs, and they started selling them directly also.

Thank you so much for the reply. I would def prefer to err on the side of caution so 850 platinum it is.

Do you have a local Microcenter to shop at or any local Pc stores? Also Order a bulk of your parts from Amazon? I used to trust Newegg long ago.. But not anymore. They would be my go to pc parts place over 20 yrs ago. But then I started seeing some things online about them and also I noticed when I went to order some of my parts would have to be shipped from china if I really wanted them..

Since then I have used Amazon, Corsair direct, Micro Center etc.. And tried to avoid the Egg for bigg money purchases.. Just tossing this out here for ideas just in case. I got some nice parts also from all these places.. with warranty.
