Visiontek Mystery boxes are back 2023

I’m not in this time. Last years NIB 7750 low profile was defective, but led me to collect 7750 variants, then an RX 550 and then a WX4100. So I actually spent quite a bit of money

I still have yet to use the fancy expensive VT7000 usb-C "dock" I got last year. I doubt I'll do it again. Who knows if it even works. I haven't tested it. I have no use for such a thing.

My two personal laptops are so old they don't even have USB3, let alone USB-C, and I use my desktop for everything at home. If I set up the dock to use with my work laptop, I'd need a KVM switch, and decent ones are stupidly expensive.

Just ordered a $50, $25, and $10. The first year I bought these i was pretty happy with what i got. Last years sucked, probably because I ordered relatively late and $50s were sold out.

If this year's boxes suck, I probably won't buy them again. The first time I got them I actually got some things I wanted, but didn't want to spend the money on, and it was worth it.
Last year i basically got 3 usb-c hubs which are kinda worthless imo.

Mine is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. 4 pounds.
so excited. living vicariously through you AND keeping the cold cash in my pocket...win/win lol.

in fairness - last year I got a capture card that I still use today to play classic video games in windows via VLC or OBS Studio (using Retrotink-5X for conversion). It works great. But yes - led me to spend even more money on that treacherous hobby, lol!

I refused to get in on it this year. A literal box of coal wouldve been more useful.
I wish we could more easily buy anthracite coal in AR, deer and duck camp is so old that it still has a coal chute and I remember the stories the old timers told of loading it once a day and jerking the handle a little several times a day to knock the ash down.

anyone have that usb-c dock from last year they want to part with dirt cheap lol. I just bought a macbook pro and probably could use it lol.

I was an idiot and got one of each price mystery box. Here is what I got. Spoiler...a bunch of junk. Not sure which item goes with which price box.

RGB Keyboard: https://visiontek.com/products/ocpc-kr1-gaming-mechanical-keyboard
The one I got has red switches which did not feel very clicky or good at all. Did not plug it in yet, just pushed a few keys to check the feel of things.

8GB DDR4 SODIMM: https://visiontek.com/products/ddr4-2666mhz-cl19-sodimm-laptop

Data Vault: https://visiontek.com/products/datavault-storage-box

UV Smartphone Sanitizer and Wireless Charger with Aromatherapy: UV Smartphone Sanitizer and Wireless Charger with Aromatherapy

SoundCube Wireless Bluetooth Speaker: https://visiontek.com/products/soundcube-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-gray

No video cards for me. I did get a goofy looking 3850 or 3870 last year that I still haven't tested.
Next year I need to have more willpower to skip this.

I'd be happy with the keyboard, but the rest of that is complete junk. SODIMM memory?! :ROFLMAO:

Gateron reds are linear switches, no bump, no click. I have a keypad with the optical version and it's fine for that but I wouldn't want to type on them.

I'm also a brown fan. But I'm also not a hard-core gamer anymore. I think it offers the best experience for those that type a lot but also want to play the occasional game. Either Browns or Whites anyway.

I haven't gotten to try any of the boutique switches though. Maybe my mind would change if I tried Panda switches or Boba's amongst others or whatever.
