Priced about where expected:

Today AMD introduces Radeon RX 5600 XT.

AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT gets 2304 Cores, 6GB, and a 279 USD price tag
The AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT features a Navi10 graphics processor with 2304 unified cores. This model is equipped with 6GB GDDR6 memory across a 192-bit interface. The clocks are somewhat reduced compared to RX 5700 non-XT with a game clock around 1375 MHz and 1560 MHz in boost mode. We have been told that the clock speed should be around 1500 MHz in a typical gaming situation.

The card requires a single 8-pin power connector and it is rated at 150W TBP (total board power). It is made in 7nm process technology and GPU is based on RDNA1 architecture. This card also features PCI-Express 4.0 interface.

AMD decided to price RX 5600 XT for 279 USD. A number of custom designs will be available at launch.

i am ultimate pass on radeons RX whatever. too many consistent stories of driver issues all over reddit.

How does it compare to a RX 580 that you can get for almost half the price still? My son has an 8GB 570 in his rig and that thing runs games surprisingly well still at 1080p ultrawide. The RX 580/570 seems to have been the best value cards on the market for a year or two now. Think I paid $150 for his 570 around BF 2018.

I don't understand why this exists. Other than the reduced memory bandwidth, the specs are basically the same as a stock 5700. $279 makes little sense when 5700s can often be found for that, and even less on sale. I guess this means grab a 5700 now if you want one because it'll be going up.

I don't think 5700's can "often" be found for that. More like "rarely", and that is going to be with the blower design that everyone seems to hate.

These will obviously be cheaper to manufacture with 2 less GB of slower GDDR6, so those savings should apparent compared to cards with similar cooling solutions.

Good chance the $280 5600 will have a blower design as well. Before the holiday season the 5700's were often at $280ish pricing, so a crippled 5600 at $280 makes no sense. After Christmas the lowest price is $320, which is expected as prices will be higher for a while.

The thing is the 5700 launched with all AMD reference designs. This time AMD isn't even building a 5600XT reference design, and all the leaked 5600XTs so far, have open air coolers.
