In a report from The Korea Times, angry with Facebook policy a group of female protesters went topless near Facebook's headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul. The group was protesting Facebook policy that they feel is "discrimination," as Facebook allows pictures of men's naked torsos, but not women's breasts.

While I appreciate the sentiment, would they expect or give the same support if a group of men went out and started swinging around the old chickenskin dufflebag? But on the other hand I'm completely for this form of protest, and hope to see it take off for less sensitive issues. Gas prices, or the current GPU situation come to mind. Thanks to cageymaru for the story.

Ten women wearing masks and sunglasses carried signs that read, "Why do you delete posts in which I willingly showed my breasts?" and "Set me free from what is virtually a modern corset," near company headquarters in Gangnam, Seoul.

Is it okay for men to show their junk? No? Is it okay for women to show their junk? No? Then what the hell does that have to do with the lack of equality with how men and women's breasts are treated?

Because sex sells billions of dollars.

The sexualisation of the female breast is to all generate billions and billions of $$$.

The porn industry and clothing industry will make sure it stays that way.

I like boobs too but I don't nee my 11yr old going on FB just to look at them... well now I think abou tit... I was his age when I found the "Magazines" and the start of a great time when I was grounded.. all by myself, nothing to do but pull that mag out from between the mattress...

I'm pretty sure this isn't true, that breasts are sexualised for financial gain when they're not sexualised already. Breasts, especially large breasts, are a symbol of femininity and fertility and have been for thousands of years. They've always been a source of fetish, long before the porn industry and clothing industries ever existed. Go take a look at the Venus of Willendorf, she's been displaying her ample boobies for 32,000 years. Boobs have always been arousing, clothing and porn manufacturers are just taking advantage of that.

That said, I have no issue with women baring their breasts wherever they so choose. Or their junk for that matter. They're their knockers, do with them as you please. If I'm that bothered I'll look away. There's worse things in this world that you can see than nipples and fannys. Just who are Facebook protecting here. I have two kids who've see naked people all the time when getting changed for sports or at the beach and stuff. They're yet to turn into perverted degenerates, although they do get shy.

Oh so much this. These idiots have hard time understanding that female breasts have a very different meaning when it comes to sexuality compared to male chest and it has been so forever. Having them bare is equivalent to a man showing his testicles bare. Or maybe they do understand it but are on a selfcentered crusade "if men are allowed it then we must too" without taking into account a simple human biology.

But yeah, there is nothing wrong with naked breasts per se just like there is nothing wrong with naked man junk, hell I am Finnish who loves sauna afterall. But situation matters, in sauna it doesn't matter if people are butt naked but if you really have a need to flash your titties or junk in general public (outside of porn industry) then there is something wrong with you.

I don't see how you can compare breasts with cock and balls. Are you opposed to breastfeeding in public as well?

In Canada, Women can go topless in all the same places as men.

he green colored states are those where top freedom is in effect.

The orange colored ones have ambiguous state laws on the matter.

The red colored ones are the ones where the mere showing of the female breast in public is illegal according to state law.

Though the majority of states are top free, some cities in those states have passed (unconstitutional) ordinances that annul the state's top free statute.

if you allow topless men, why not allow topless women? A woman can breast feed in public here... so you "can" see a women's boob in public. I can see how it is sexist. but yeah in our society a female boob is a sex object a male boob is not... but that is from a male dominated society.

That would be better addressed as a reply to rgMekanic, who equated men wanting to show their junk ("chickenskin dufflebag") with women wanting to bare their breasts, a comparison I also take exception to.
