Underperforming rig?

i have a brand new rig that i put together myself and i was wondering if it was underperforming/avg or what. The specs are:

AMD64 3500+ (130nm)
Abit AV8
PNY 6800 GT, 66.93 dets
1 gig Crucial ddr333
winxp, sp2


My 3dmark2001se score is around 20 000, 2005 is around 4 400, my aquamark 3 score is 43,173 (G: 5,577. CPU: 8,284)

seems a bit low. i'd be expecting at least 25000 in 3dmark01

what is it that is underperforming?


Here is a summary:

When I had my 9800xt and amdxp 2800+ Barton, my score was about 16 000. 3dmark 2005 was about 2200

Replaced 9800xt with 6800gt. 3d2001 stayed the same at 16000, but 3d2005 jumped to 4400.

Replaced amdxp with amd64. 3D2001 increased to 20000, 3D2005 increased to 4460.



Where else could i go to test this? What tests benchmark specifically the gpu, cpu, ram so i can compare to others?

ok, i just ran pcmark04. My score is a 3361. I was analyzing the results with someone who scored 1000 pts higher then i did (exact same system, but 1/2 the ram), and we were about the same in everything but on test. Under the 'Graphics Memory - 64 lines", i got a score of 85, while he got 2520.

This leads me to my next problem. I can not fully test my system when the vsync is stuck on 'on'.

ok, i installed the new 71.24 dets. These somehow took off the vysnc issue. Right now, my scores are:

Pcmark : 4417
3D2001 : 20696
A/M 3 : 59,076 (GPU: 8,772; CPU: 9,045)
