He's put it together and it will not turn on. He's stumped about getting the cables connected. I suggested he join here but I wanted to start this thread and see if I can get him some answers.

Of course it will not turn on without a CPU, a GPU or RAM. Those three items, plus an internal SSD or HDD, are all required for that build to even be usable at all.
 
Assuming that you actually do have a CPU, RAM, and a video card of some sort (unless the CPU has integrated graphics, ie a G suffix), you'll need to be more specific about where the confusion lies. You connect the 24-pin mobo and 8-pin CPU (aka EPS) power connectors to the motherboard.
 
Smart answers aside, the motherboard manual should show you how to connect everything up.

If you could post the full build list, and what exactly the computer is or isn't doing, we can probably point you in the right direction.

EDIT: NVM, didn't realize this was so old. Way to go Fresch :ROFLMAO:

If you're the one with the system that won't fire.... Try Clearing the BIOS. Make certain your main power connector is seated properly. It can seat improperly since it's 20+4. Make sure you have the CPU power at the top of the MB connected and seated well typically 8 pins in two 4 pin connectors, could be more (didn't look up your board). Re-Seat Your RAM, leave the CPU in there and if you get nothing.... MB is probably dead or your Power Supply was DOA. I guess you could have bent a pin on the CPU but there should be some sort of error code from the MB at that point (or it might work and then fail in an OS).
