Are there any small business/custom/unique case makers out there any more? Any failed kickstarters that will still offer products? Please dont say MountainMods(love them, scratched that itch years ago) and do not say singularity(2000 plus for an acrylic distroplate with legs???Barrowch offers better value in that category.) I want to see some truly uniique custom stuff out there, be it north america or beyond reminiscent of Danger Den(not exactly like that, just small custom outfits trying to make a name.) I hope to see some cool stuff still out there, please?

The only company that comes to mind is inwin, they make some wacky out there stuff.
Yeah they do make some odd cases. I've thought about getting a case from them for something different, but they just don't look very functional overall.

Yeah I got an InWin 301. Really nice looking case. Uhh, oddball fan/PSU/hdd bracket and honeycomb "intake", almost no internal storage. Works best if you intake from bottom and exhaust "front" and rear. I took the whole bracket except the PSU part out and replaced it with a custom 2x140 fan bracket. Planned to do custom water, but settled on air...for now at least.

What made the custom bracket a bit troublesome is it's fairly integrated -- you can't just remove the fan bracket. You have to remove the hdd bracket and "cable management" too. The nice thing is you can do that if you want, and all the things are held in with screws in threaded holes. Would be even better if they had a dimensional drawing as well, but alas...

I just happened to be scrolling through all the forums out there to get some ideas on case modding and designs and came across this thread. My name is Kirk, aka...Gone Cruising (mainly on the EVGA forums) and I had an upstart called Lazerwerx back in 2008 where I made cases out of acrylic, Danger Den style.

Two of my cases/builds, Cyclone and Mad Black made the front cover of CPU Magazine, which was great! Unfortunately due to a job change, I had to cease operation on Lazerwerx and sold the name.

Here I am today, attempting to start up My Kustom PC. A company that makes custom cases out of acrylic, metal, and wood, as well as various components the same as V1Tech makes. I often wondered where I might have been today if I was able to continue what I started in the past!

I am not up and running with a web site yet, but you can find My Kustom PC on Facebook to see what I make. So far, looking around, I don't see any other businesses or entities doing what I do, so I hope I can make it work this time around! If not, at least I'm having fun!

Hopefully you can see some of the pics of my latest work I have attached. I am currently in the process of building 4 different metal and acrylic cases and 3 different metal, acrylic, and wood cases, along with grills, covers for ssd's, HD's, and GPU's.

Thank you for your time!

Here is a start of my wood, metal, and acrylic case. One of 4 designs. It's about 30% done.

Let me know what you think? I am all ears for criticism and suggestions!

The wood case is just about done. Just need to add some filter material to the front intake panel.

I'll start a work log on it and see how the cable management pans out. There is 20mm of space behind the motherboard as well as the space under the psu cover to hide cables.

Looks great man, very sleek, professional design. I think that's probably the only case ever made that noctua brown fans would actually compliment!

Is this a client specific build? Or prototype?
Are there going to be hdd/ssd slots in the psu bay?
Any way to hide the fastener heads?
Sorry, that's all I can think of.

Mitre and glue your corners

Thank you for the compliment!

These are prototypes to see if the designs I have are feasible or not. If they are I will be selling them, customized to each clients preference. I'll be making custom cases like I did before as well.

On this case there is a total of 4 mounting points for either SSD or HD's. Two on the PSU cover and two on the mobo panel. With most mobo's now having 3-4 M2 slots having more than 4 mount points for SSD/HD's might be overkill, but I do have a version of the wood case that has a 6 slot HD cage that hangs from the mobo panel that's 55mm away from the front fans. That can be a custom option. I left the PSU area empty on purpose, but I can add a HD cage in there as well.

I used to countersink the screws on all the panels, Danger Den style, but that took so much extra time to do.

Thank you for your input! Much appreciated!

I think he means to 45 degree cut the board edges so that they overlap flush with each other instead of one of the ends being visible overlapping the other.

Ahhh, got it! I did use a laser to cut the wood...it's 1/4" decorative plywood and I do have a mitre table on hand. I'll give it a go and see how it turns out!

Thanks everyone!

Huh. So if you were to sell that as a bare case kit, how much would something like that go for?

Looks great. Don't let my ocd bring you down. I still hate lap joints in plywood, they scream at my eyeballs. But this is clearly a really well designed and built case. Looks great.

But do try mitred on the next one 🙂

Looks awesome, but I agree with travm. It's a precision cut but I'm sure you can handle it.

Total parts takes it to $237.00, then there would be my time to cut and prepare the extrusion.....I would say add $100 to that for my time, plus shipping to you.

Looks great man!

Thank you!

No worries, thank you for your input, it's much appreciated! Will try on the next case, coming up in about a week!

Thank you! will try it next time around on the Full Tower case!

If you want something truly 1 of 1 and can afford it (upper 4-5 figure stuff), pm me. I can make you anything from alu billet to monolithic bending machine designs, laser or water jet cut, 1x1m 3 axis, 5 axis stuff, 7 axis dual turret lathe stuff, 0.1mm accuracy, whatever you can imagine as long as a machine can access the working area.. We often make highly braced cases with 15-20mm thick monolithic front and rear plates with all plugs, ports etc custom and expansion blanks. Not for PC industry but much higher cost and more rigorous environments than sitting on a desk.
Cheaper in 10 piece volume and more complex is more cost.
Can also do brass and copper. So yes, custom water blocks and the rest.

We can even integrate the water circuit and reservoir inside the front or rear plate if you want to get rid of all the clunky pipes where possible. Just some ideas ;)

When I have enough $ and time I'm building the ultimate passive case, might go as far as TEC regulating the inside so it's dustless/zero fucks like our products are already.

Man this brings me back to when I had my Mountain Mods U2-UFO DUALITY... In 2007. Wish I could find a picture of it.
