I have the Silverstone Grandia gd08 HTPC case, I7 12700 with Noctua nh-l9i-17xx cooler
No gaming at all.
When I watch some YouTube videos, Google Earth, the CPU cooler is getting a bit loud
Just wanted to ask you if you could recommend something better
138 mm is the limit ( socket 1700 )
I found this one, I'm not sure if it's better than the Noctua
https://www.newegg.com/thermaltake-cl-p073-al12bl-a/p/N82E16835106668
Heatsink Dimensions 114.10 x 137.70 x 123.60 mm
Noctua - 92 mm fan size ( no heat pipes )
Thermaltake - 120 mm fan size ( with heat pipes )
What do you think, guys ? Is it worth ?
Thanks

the tt will probably be better BUT neither are rated for what that chip puts out at max speeds(180w). so you might need to limit it a bit. if you have the room, like google claims, id go 240mm aio.

Thermalright Silver Soul 135 should be perfect, I'd say.
Thanks, I'll order it. Hope I can close the case door :)

If its at stock power limite, the 12700 is 60w. But of course, you can unlock the power limits to whatever you want. However, the power limit likely isn't the issue. I mean, the CPU isn't anywhere close to using full power, for youtube, etc. The iGPU even decodes AV1.

The problem here is simply that heatsink is insufficient.

If your cooler limit is 138mm, why did you put in the nh-l9i-17xx ? It's a 37mm cooler and you're missing out on 100mm of cooling there. Lots of options with 138mm height from all sorts of vendors.

no one runs it like that. i see it here all the time. jam as much high end stuff into a tiny sff and then complaining about heat issues. i was being preemptive
ya think?

I received / installed the Thermalright Silver Soul 135
Such a huge difference. Everything is quite now, still no case airflow, tested different programs
Thank you so much, guys

No worries! It's keeping my Ryzen 7900X cool as well.
