Seasonic RG34 cable plugs into only 6 pins of motherboard's 8-pin plug

STOP.

I think you're using the wrong cable and headed for disaster. Those are PCIe cables. The cpu is either straight 8 pins or 4+4 pins. It should also say on the plug CPU or PCIe. Mixing them up will fry your board.

I looked at my bag of unused power supply cables, and indeed there was a cable with 4+4 pins, and it plugged right into the motherboard.

Only thing is that this motherboard has two such connectors and I got only one in the box. I guess I will write to Seasonic support to ask them to send me a second CPU cable. (y)

Many, many, many thanks for this reply. :D :D :D
