There a free week trial for it I think? The game itself is not free. That link is for some Halo inspired ship that will be free for the week. You need to own the game to get it.

Every now and then gamepass goes on sale. I got 3 months of gamepass for $3 and it includes sea of thieves.

Is the game fun? It seems to be very on and off for some people due to the updates and whatever.

The pvp is a lot of fun, especially if have a few friends to play with.

If you're curious just pick up a month of gamepass, I think it's $1 for the first month and play it. You'll get a good impression of the game.
