RTX 3090 SLI NVLINK Bridge 3 Slots

Hello Guys,

did someone knows may I use NVLINK bridge from RTX 2080ti to RTX 3090. Or 3 slot NVlink bridge from Ampere Quadro to RTX 3090 SLI ?
Also it is possible 4 slot bridge to be modified to 3 slot bridge ?
 
Have the same doubt, could it be modded from 4 slots to 3 slots? I accidentally bought a 4 slot one, and I needed a 3 slot and there is no way to fit the 4 slot on my motherboard. I was thinking about a PCIe riser cable, but it could be a really silly and potentially dangerous idea, lol.
