Hi,

I'm just making plans for a new Z690 mini-itx built.

EDIT: According to ASUS there are no plans for a Z690 ITX DDR4 Motherboard. Anyhow here is no stock for Asus, Gigabyte, MSI.

Waiting for availability and new cooler designs.

Pity! Was hoping for a cooler in the boxed version. So you can order CPU, MB and DDR5 already but will sit on the parts maybe forever if not water cooling ...

kinda normal in itx to have to make compromises. you probably wouldnt be happy jamming this into itx, id put money on complaints about heat issues...

Hmm. Until now my itx builds were all running cool and quiet on air after some modding. Z690-i is just an upgrade to my existing Z270-i pilot's case. Just need an air cooler and have about 16 cm height left free to use. Unfortunately these Asus heatsinks are towering more and more which blocks the space for cooling.

lol "after some modding".
the chipset is not the issue.
yeah, because they are needed for the juice chuggin chips, like the 12900.

i said itx has heat issue with highest end parts, you said "no its fine i just have to mod it". that was my point. "oh look i jammed the highest end shit into the smallest box i could find but not i have to have no side panels or had to drill holes everywhere so it can breath or require an external rad setup". it defeats the purpose of itx and ive seen it time and time again here.
suggestions? put high end parts in a proper sized case or use slightly lower spec parts that you can cool properly in itx.

Sorry, but I was not saying "no its fine i just have to mod it" related to chipset. That's an insinuation and I don't understand this unfriendly dogmatic know-all attitude.
And again I would be happy for any helpful advice or information.

Your only alternative is to get either the Gigabyte or Asrock ITX motherboard. MSI doesn't have a Z690 ITX yet.

There's a really good chance the gigabyte boards will have compatibility issues, as well. Because they also did a full height sandwich for the chipset heatsink and NVME heatsinks.

Hi,
I'm just making plans for a new Z690 mini-itx built. As I've bad experiences with pump noise I prefer air cooling.
I dunno how long its been since you have used an AIO but....I got an EK AIO a few months ago. The pump is virtually silent, except for when its at max speed, it has a small whine to it. However, set the pump's max speed to about 93% and you never get to the whine.

Regardless, any noise the pump makes with the CPU under load, you'd be hard pressed to hear over the fans.

The point is, it isn't any louder than an air cooler.

I have it in an Sliger S610 ITX case, which sits right next to my monitor.

You're absolutely right. This morning I've found the Gigabyte Aorus Z690I which seems to have a broad compatibility. Including the behemoth Noctua NH-D15.

I'm just in the process of adjusting my view on AIOs. Maybe I'll give them a shot. I had a Corsair H80i before and after a few weeks the stomping was unbearable.
Only problem I see is where to put the radiator of 280mm and above in my case.

Still have to wait and wait ... until 11/4.

Probably best to wait for MSI as well. They're close to revealing their ITX.

This page has one surprising detail about the ITX Unify:

「MEG Z690I UNIFY」。 Mini-ITX model yet powerful with three M.2 slots

so that probably means a full height sandwich up front aaannnnd a 3rd slot on the back!

https://news.mynavi.jp/article/20211028-2171180/

Also confirms it will once again have dual Thunderbolt 4, like the Z590 Unify had.

I wish they made a DDR4 version because I want this board. I would pay the extra money over the gigabyte, for the extra M2 slot.
