Hey all. Sold my PC this weekend for almost what I paid for it, which is basically why I did it. Now I'm going to take that money, and add on top of that to get myself something similar in quality/power (but modern of course). I'm well versed in PC building and understand the complexities of the various parts that make up a build, but unfortunately do not have much time in the day to constantly check competitions, and what's around the corner vs. what to get now, etc. The help is appreciated!

Here's the list first:

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming, some light editing (CS6), browsing.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
About $1,100 NOT including the Video Card; Separate budget of about $400-450 for the card (want to separate the GPU from everything else; there's a reason, but it's not important!)
3) Which country do you live in? If the U.S, please tell us the state and city if possible.
U.S. - Mass - Boston (Plan on grabbing everything from the Cambridge Microcenter, if possible; Newegg or wherever else is fine too if part selection is limited and/or prices are better elsewhere)
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
CPU/Mobo
GPU
RAM (16GB)
HDD/SDD (1TB fine for HDD; at least one SSD of 250GB+)
PSU
Sound Card
Case
CD/DVD/Bluray Drive
Mouse/Keyboard
5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
27" Monitor
6) Will you be overclocking?
No.
7) What is the max resolution of your monitor? What size is it?
1920x1080 - 27" Samsung Monitor
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
ASAP - This week or next.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video (as a backup or main GPU)? UEFI? etc.
UEFI would be nice, and USB 3.0 is a must.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If so, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
Yes, 64-Bit Windows 7, plan on grabbing 64-bit Windows 8 copy further down the line.

Now, here's what I was thinking:
CPU - i5 4670K with mobo:
http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx

If you scroll down to the 4670, there's Z87-A and the Z87 Pro (which one of these would better benefit me, as I hear there are very minor differences, such as heatsinks and PCI vs PCI-E slots)

What about the Z87-G41 4770K mobo bundle, is that board solid enough to warrant a 4770K purchase? Would be only about $10-15 difference

GPU - Was thinking of going with a GTX 770, preferably a reference blower unit for obvious reasons, but wouldn't mind paying a bit extra for the 4GB dual fan versions, thoughts?

Alternatively, the new AMD's are RIGHT around the corner, worth waiting for...? Want to get most bang for buck. If there's also any massive advantage of going with a 780 over a 770 I'd like to know, as the way I see it, I'm not sure if the $200 price difference is in fact worth it.

RAM - Would like to take best suggestions on this, as I really have no preference. Fastest, best priced 16GB gets my vote. Would prefer nice heatsinks on them of course.

HDD/SSD - 1TB would be sufficient for my general storage, but would like perhaps one of the Samsung 840's for the SSD alternative, like the 250GB version.

PSU - 750 watts should suffice? Probably a Corsair model? No SLI planned.

Sound Card - I've got a nice set of cans, the Sennheiser HD598's, would like something with an amp if possible, or something with a solid amount of kick like the ASUS Xonar's or whatever the equivalent is that someone has had experience with.

Case - No idea here. I had the 400R Carbide Series, and I liked that a lot as it was fairly large, easy to work in, and had awesome cable hiding functionality, plus the white lights were very nice. I like lights, just nothing Fast and Furious'ish. Overall very open to choice.

CD/DVD/Bluray Drive - Thinking of going with whatever is the most reliable option, that doesn't throw the rest of the budget off balance.

Mouse/Keyboard - Had a CM Storm Quickfire Pro and that was an excellent keyboard. If anyone has suggestions for a better one, I'm all ears. Mice as well, had a Death Adder and thought that was fine, perhaps might want to switch over and see what Logitech's been up to?

That should be it, thanks all!

Damn, no posts all day on this? :(
Gonna be busy for the next few months so my own posting rate is going to be significantly lower than before.

In any case, to go over your parts choices:
CPU and Motherboard:
If you're planning on playing BF4, then yes go for the Core i7 4770K plus Z87-G41 combo. If you're not playing BF4, go for the Core i7 4670K plus Z87-G41 combo. You're not overclocking nor have you stated any other specific motherboard requirements so the more expensive motherboards aren't really worth it for you.

RAM:
I recommend this RAM:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/...l_Desktop_Memory_Kit_(Two_8GB_Memory_Modules)

GPU:
You're only playing at 1080P so you'll be fine with 2GB card. However, I would wait for the new AMDs just to see what their effect on the market will be.

Storage:
Go for the Samsung 840 250GB SSD and any Seagate or WD 1TB to 2TB 7200RPM drive.

DVD drive:
Get the cheapest one you can find. The quality among DVD burners is practically all the same.

Sound Card:
Asus DX.

Case:
I recommend any of these cases:
$100 - Corsair Carbide Series 400R ATX Case
$110 - Antec 1100 ATX Case
$90 - Lian Li PC-7HX Black Aluminum ATX Case
$122 - Corsair Carbide Series 500R ATX Case
$100 - Corsair Vengeance Series C70 Gunmetal Black ATX Case
$100 - Corsair Vengeance Series C70 Arctic White ATX Case
$140 - Corsair Obsidian Series 550D ATX Case
$144 - Silverstone RV03B-W ATX case
$144 - Silverstone RV03B-WA ATX case
$150 - Corsair Graphite Series 600TM ATX Case
$170 - Corsair Special Edition White Graphite Series 600T ATX Case
$168 - Silverstone TJ04B-EW ATX Case
$167 - Corsair Obsidian Series 650D ATX Case
$230 - Silverstone FT02B-USB3.0 ATX Case
$250 - Silverstone FT02S-W-USB3.0 ATX Case
$245 - Corsair Obsidian Series 800D CC800DW ATX Case

I recommend buying the SSD and the hard drive online. You can grab the Samsung 840 250GB SSD for $159 and the Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD for $90 (both with free ground shipping).
