Looking for suggestions/advice on a software controlled PWM hub

As the title says.

The specific use case for wanting software control is so that I can use NZXT CAM or something like for controlling two to four fans on an upcoming EVGA Hybrid AiO cooler for my 3090. I want to remove the fan power draw from the card to maximize power to the GPU for peak overclocking benchmark runs, but would still like to have GPU temperature control the fans.

Anyone know of a PWM hub that can do that with a USB (2.0 or 3.0) internal header plug in? My google-fu isn't helping me this time.

The few watts consumed by the fans will not impact your overclocking headroom.

You're going to hit thermal barriers long before you're able to shove enough current into that card for the fan draw to be a detriment to your power ceiling.

It already affects scores with the aircooler (80% fanspeed vs 100%), so I've no doubt it will have the same effect when watercooling.

Granted, it's not much - but I want the option to run the high end replacement fans at full bore without affecting power draw for those extra points.

Really? Fans are in the single-digit ranges for wattage, and the draw difference between an 80% fan and a 100% fan is likely less than a watt.

Are you positive the card isn't just clocking lower at 80% because it's getting less cooling?

The electrical math on this feels ludicrous to me.

Best I know of are aquaero OCTO and QUADRO. They come with Aquasuite control software licence for 1 or 2 years but software works even after licence expires. But after it expires you can't update software, so update software before licence runs out.

As already stated, fan power draw at full speed vs half speed is not a problem. Fans draw several times their rated running load at startup, startup or stalled load is like 5 times higher than running at full speed.

Worth noting on the Aquacomputer stuff - you don't need to update the software when the license runs out, if you don't want to. I ran my Aquaero with an unrenewed license for years because it did what I needed. Only updated when Playground came out.

I should point out that I've got one of the 3090 FTW3's that can show power as a limit even at 400W on a 500W VBIOS. So I am forced to use the messed up 2 pin XC3 VBIOS that really opens up my card - but having the card control the fans messes things up under load (100% sounds like it drops down to well under 75% and goes back up, then back down.

The points difference in Port Royal is over 500, so it actually matters if I can offload the fan control to be able to use this VBIOS for gaming/folding and not just short benchmark runs.

Also, on this card 100% vs 85% fan speed on the XOC, Kingpin, and stock VBIOS does indeed lower the score slightly. This card, and the one I RMAd, are very power limited cards. Unfortunately.

Indeed! That's basically what I was trying to say, but wasn't clear. I think only time user would need to update/buy new licence is if you change OS! Not sure about changing hardware to new mobo & CPU, might need new licence for that but I honestly don't know. But even if aquaero user had to buy new softwares, it's only 9.90 € for 1 year, (2 years is 14.90 €) and that includes 20% tax. , like Win 10 moved on to Win 11. But even if aquaero user had to buy new softwares, it's only 9.90 € (1 years, 2 years is 14.90 €) and that includs 20% tax.

Here's link about what licence is/does.

Something very strange going on there. If you have 500w of power with fans only using 10-20w, your power drop is only 10-20w, so you would have 480-490w. That's 96-98% remaining, not 75%. Not saying it isn't telling you 75%, just saying something isn't dealing with laws of physics. ;)

l often control GPU fans separate from GPU control, so definitely understand you wanting to do it.

You deffo don't need to renew the license on OS change or hardware change. The Aquacomputer hardware all has serial numbers and when you download AS from the website, it goes online to see if the license associated with your device is active or not.

My Aquaero has been through a handful of hardware and OS iterations...

Good to know!
Just to be sure I understand you, I have old aquaero 5 XT with remote control in older system still on Win 7. If I understand you correctly I can move it to new system with Win 10 with no problems?

And you missed the part where certain 3090 FTW3s are power limited and have issues even on a 500W, or Kingpin VBIOS. My current card is better, and can draw up to 460W average without using the XC3 VBIOS, but my first one was limited to 430W average no matter the VBIOS - physics be fucked, it was limited by something other than total VBIOS power allotment.

Sure thing! Just re-download Aquasuite on the new machine and it should identify your license once you have the controller connected and are online.
