fuck it deleting this shit..

thread closed..

pg still hasnt come to say anything but im getting sick of being the "bad guy" because i found a trick out and no ones come up with hard evidence that it actually effects the science being done so im just going to remove it.. what ever..

next time ill just keep the information to myself..

cretask....take your dam card back !!!!!

and ya it spossible, but bull shit, my 9800GTX gets way less PPD than his dam 8800GS's .... same with the 260, o well, i had my lead over him...

edit: never mind, my 9800 just got a good WU, 8.6k ppd

Just did this on my GTX 295 with the -forcepu nvidia_fermi and it's looking good.

EDIT: It was looking good, but then slowed down so I reverted this pair to GPU2, but I put a GTS 250 and 9800GT on this config and PPD rose by over 2000PPD on the GTS 250 and 1200 PPD on the 9800GT.

Awesome find Sirmonkey1985

I gotta do this

so what exactly is the trick?

-install gpu3 client
-add flags -forcegpu nvidia_fermi -advmethods
-PROFIT! :D

Can I install GPU3 without uninstalling GPU2? I'd like to have the option of rolling back to the GPU2 client if necessary.

I dont see why not as long as you install to a different directory.

You can do it with the console client, but not if you're using the systray client. However, GPU2 is still available for download on the F@H site, so you can always uninstall GPU3 and reinstall GPU2.

Waiting for 260's to finish current WU's (11166 and 11167) but I should have a PPD answer for you shortly on that. ;) I already put the flags in.
What are you getting for a PPD on 11166 and 11167?

Has anyone tried this on a GTX260 yet?

ya, a week or two ago me and monkey were fiddling with my flags, and it sucked bad on my 260, the GPU2 WU's pulled wya more PPD. I only ran it for one or two WU's though. I now have my 260 doing the GPU3 client which gives both WUs.....i can say it runs much cooler now with the GPU3 client thoguh...

hope this bit of info helps ya out

@ Tobit:

gtx 260 216 sc 2 - 11167 (R9, C3, G3) - TPF 03min 06sec - 6,308.1 PPD - Credit 1,358
(both are regular SC clocks, no higher shader OC or anything)

8800gs @stock - 10936 - TPF 02min 40sec - 5,000 PPD - Credit 925

what are you guys using for overclocking? rivatuner is giving me trouble on 7.

MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision

those PPD numbers on the GTX are lower than I expected. It appears I'll leave my GX2 in its current config.

Hmm. An apples to apples comparison is going to be hard without installing it myself. Just for reference, my GTX260 with shaders OC to 1512 is currently doing 7776 ppd on a 6603. Normal ppd for that card for me is 7500-8900, depending on the WU.

it depends on the WU, the gtx could score more. 5k for a 8800gs is really good, it's now at 5,123ppd and that's stock, I guess 14k+ would be possible with good WUs on a 9800gx2.

Well, no dice for me.

what's your target / start in?
Sometimes the client just bugs, and throws out 5 errors in a few seconds.
Try restarting or try uninstalling and then reinstalling

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@home\Folding@home-gpu\[email protected]" -forcegpu nvidia_fermi -advmethods

Start in: C:\Users\Remi\AppData\Roaming\Folding@Home-gpu

EDIT: 6300ppd with a 8800gs overclocked.

Zero2Dash, I got the same thing until I upgraded drivers to 258.96. Ensure you aren't using old drivers.

my 9800GTX(751/1998/883) is currently pulling: 8686 PPD on a 10945, as another reference

Think this would work well with an 8800 GTS 640MB? I may have to try when I get home from work today. Right now that card is getting just over 3000 ppd.

Already there
It's ok, after what Tobit said about 200 series dropping PPD comparatively, I switched over to -forcegpu_nvidia g80 rather than play roulette with these.

Guys, I did a test run last night on only one GPU of my GX2 card. It did ~8200 PPD. When I get both GPUs running GPU3 I will see over 16,000 PPD on a G92 card. That is SICK!!
