Unlike the Series X|S, the thermal profile of the PS5 still benefits from horizontal placement. It's annoying that its design requires a stand be use for sitting horizontally, though.
 
The shape of the PS5 looks like a Flower Vase made by an edgy CG design guy.
 
Horizontal. I keep all my AV stuff in an open-air TV stand (and always have) so most all my stuff is horizontal. Normally that's no big deal, but the PS5's shape is bizarre. Even with the stand, it never feels like it's truly stable. Luckily that doesn't matter.
 
When I had mine it was kept vertical, mostly because I kept it on my computer desk, but partly because I prefer its vertical aesthetic.
 
This thing is so ugly looking might have to lay it flat or put it on the floor.
Update Ended up laying it flat otherwise it's an eyesore it's on top of a Asus Tuf
24" empty monitor box.
