Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master won't power on - (temporary) solution

I enabled it the other day after my issue happened within days of each other. It's the first time I have seen it in the BIOS, so let's see if i does anything. Here's to throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks! lol
Since the last time, on oct 10th, i have set this "power loading" option to disabled, because it did not prevent the issue. Also, i disabled the RGB-LEDs.

My settings now:

- power loading disabled
- ErP enabled
- SATA ports (unused) disabled
- unused LAN adapter disabled
- wake on LAN disabled
- LEDs off in off states, sleep, etc
- RGB-LEDs disabled
- set PCI-E to gen 3
- updated both BIOS to F30
- deactivated windows energy saving- and hybrid sleep mode

If someone is interested, i have set up a history of the dates the "no power bug" occured:

01. 02. 2020 initial installation/1st boot up
03. 02. 2020 1st "no power bug"
=> Gigabyte "repair"
21. 03. 2020 reassembly after "repair"
03. 05. 2020
01. 06. 2020
06. 09. 2020
19. 09. 2020
10. 10. 2020

My impression is that if this was an easy to fix BIOS option(s), Gigabyte would have commented on it, changed the defaults etc.
Again, no matter how much we all want this board to just work as it should, it won't and this issue will be coming back.

A lot of negativity here, but like others I've tried all "workarounds" and settings to no avail.

LOL GN is using the Aorus Master as their "standard" new test rig:

Surely it's only a matter of time :D

Maybe it's time to comment massively on his twitter / youtube / facebook about his new rig?
I left a comment on that video, but yeah, could be an idea.

I was browsing around the web on this issue, there a pretty big sample of affected users getting around.

I couldn't bring myself to get one in the end, I managed to get a Dark Hero instead. Payed thru the nose for it though :(

A lot of youtube videos I've seen actually recommend the Aorus Master. I don't think they use it consistently enough to run into this issue. I mean, some of you guys are reporting MONTHS after daily usage before running into the issue. I personally have no run into it but I've only had it for 1 week.

I wonder how long it'd take if you just sat there starting and shutting it down.

10, 20, 30...... cycles?

Someone should test the board with a multimeter when the problem occurs, see if the board has lost power completely.

Figure out if some of the lines/ grounds are doing weird things. Makes sense
Step 1 - pull MB out of the case.
Test power on
Step 2 - Pull all the cards out except video
Test power on
Step 3 - Pull all the cards out
Test power on
Step 5 - Pull the ATX connector off, Push the Power button to discharge the circuity. Plug ATX back into MB.
Test Power on

I haven't had the issue since like November. The only difference I made from when I did have this problem.

A. Change my memory
B. slightly change my timings
C. updated both bios to the most recent bios at the time

We are talking about 400-450 cycles.

I can force it to occur with an overly agressive overclock on my x370, but because it's an older chipset and an overclock, I can't be sure it's exactly the same issue (could be multiple or other faults). It's happened without the oc, but rarely.

Hi,
Coming here to share my experience with X570 Master v1.0.
I had it working for 6 months, until I had the "I don't want to wake-up" issue end of June.
Sent it back with RMA.
In the mean time, as I was very happy of my previous Gigabyte products since a lot of years, I bought a B550 Aorus. No issues with this one.
I got another motherboard delivered mid-october (3 months for RMA process). This one seems been returned by another customer (a lot of scratches on it...). Still a v1.0, serial number seems same batch (only one different number at the end). Didn't trouble me as it was working well.... for 6 weeks.
Seems that Gigabyte service center was not able to solve the issue.
This morning, I switched back on the B550 and started another RMA request.
It may take another 3 months for the repair process, crossing fingers not to have the 3rd one failing after 6 days !

To be continued....

Ouch. Also, this issue is not exclusive to just the 1.0, right? I have the 1.1/1.2 but assuming they are all running into the same issues.

Hopefully not failing in 4 months either as mine did after RMA 🤬

Good morning everyone,

Sunday 25th. My card has been gone for approximately one month now. It arrived at the reseller on October 1st and after what seemed to be a quick check the reseller decided to send it to their supplier. After that, all went quiet.
I’m regularly checking this forum and the list of impacted Gigabyte customers seems to grow. And since Gigabyte is not responding in a way we customers would like I was wondering if we should start a petition and try to find more impacted customers. Once we have a reasonable amount of signatures we could confront Gigabyte directly and show them the magnitude of the problem. If they then still deny the problem I would suggest to hire a lawyer specialised in consumer rights to defend our case. The main goal would then be to go for a full refund.
All depends of course on how many signatures we would collect with the petition. Could be that we belong to a very small group of unfortunate customers. What’s your thought on this proposal?
Hi everyone,

So I got my card 3 weeks after an RMA and yesterday the same problem occurred. I contacted my supplier and asked them for a refund which they, of course, did not want to do.
They want me again to build out the mobo and send it to them for repair. This time I should mention on the RMA document that it is the second repair so that they will give it
a high priority... which I currently have a hard time to believe. Anyway, I'm thinking of first buying another mobo to make sure I can continue to use my pc. Last time the RMA took over a
month.

So I did what I said a few weeks ago and started an online petition. It's the first step in trying to measure the amount of Gigabyte X570 customers that have the same issue.
However, I need your help. First of all with the description. I'm Belgian and although my English is ok I would really appreciate it if someone can do a cross-check of my text.
I want it to look a bit professional if we confront Gigabyte with this petition.
Secondly, spread the word. Try to get as many people towards the petition as possible. I replied to the comment of one of the users here that was posted on
the Gamers Nexus video. I will see if I can add the link towards the petition.

The petition should hopefully attract a lot of users voting for a solution. To be clear, I don't want to attack Gigabyte with these numbers. I simply want to show them the magnitude
of the problem. If they are professional enough and contact us I would gladly help them with providing data, as I guess most of the people on this forum would do also. So let's see
if together we can make a change

Here is the link to the petition. Let me know what you think and if you like it then please vote.

English is fine.

Signed.

I will do what I can to get word out on FB and Twitter but if anyone has a Gigabyte US forum account then there are a load of threads about the issue there but strangely none in the UK.

Oh I'm 100% sure they know very well about the problem and the magnitude. They decided not to acknowledge it, and they've been absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful to their customers (sending back after RMA the same faulty motherboard after months GB? really?).

I'll do the following
  1. Accept the fact that I've wasted that much money, throw the mono in a bin, or use it in some backup PC, or donate to someone that doesn't care much
  2. Replace it with a reliable brand, one that has good reputation with regard to customer support (for me it's gonna be ASUS most probably, waiting for Dark Hero to become available)
  3. Spread the word, whenever/wherever you see the word 'Gigabyte' share your experience it, let people know about this flaw and their customer support
  4. Never buy a Gigabyte product again (don't care if it is mobo, GPU whatever), if it has Gigabyte/Aorus on it just stay the f. away.

I flashed 31h today and noticed now whenever powering down the on-board power button light now turns off but the system still powers up as normal.
ERP on or off ? I'm on bios F21 and the on-board power button light is off when I shutdown the PC with ERP on.

:woot: only problem is here in Europe it's really hard to find one of those to buy (as with all other new products, GPUs, CPUs, PS5s etc.)

What happened to your GB board?
I was pretty lucky to get one. Retailer literally listed 3 of them last Thursday night. Couple other retailers here in Aus sold their pre-orders out quick but not expected to ship it til next week.

I didn't buy the GB board. I was researching it. Such a shame really. Been sitting on a 5800X since day after launch lol. Usually I research first and don't buy bleeding edge/day 1, but shortages got me nervous lol. Already a bit concerned about the 5800X, I knew something was up with the 105W TDP.... Anyway hope the Dark Hero is sound.

I might try to pick one up (GB Master) second hand so I can test it out of curiosity. If anything, just to take up a complaint with the consumer commission, I enjoy that shit thoroughly (hello, Bethesda :D)

cool, enjoy!
Let us know what you think of the Dark Hero!

Guys, some update from Gigabyte (I kept pushing and asking them the same question):

I wouldn't hold my breath though as I'm still not convinced this is something that can be fixed via a BIOS update. Moreover, "future" update could mean in a year from now, not very helpful

At least it’s a reaction. Better than complete silence.

Interesting that they might be able to address the issue via a BIOS update. I wonder if there's going to be some sort of a power limit cut off or something.
