Gear 1 (bios setting) can Lead to Performance Loss on Intel "Rocket Lake"

I'd rather use Gear 2 for the lower power consumption. lol even though I'm still waiting for some motherboards to be in stock to complete my rig.

It would be interesting to see if there is a noticeable temp difference on one of those short coolers for ultra small ITX case. Or the stock cooler, for that matter.

Lower temps AND better performance is kind of a strangely unintuitive result!

Basically, Gear 1 causes higher power usage for the memory controller Vs. Gear 2. Which eats into the TDP limits of the non-K chips, limiting their clock frequency potential, when run with stock TDP/stock boost behavior. And lower clock frequency on the CPU tends to offset the potential memory bandwidth benefit of Gear 1.

Rocket Lake is cursed, what a disastrous piece of tech.

Let's not kick dirt into the grave just yet. New benchmark out today.
